thats great!!! I"m gonna have to buy a few of those. I was looking for something to clean out my water bottle with. And of course, if I can clean the piggies bottles I won't have to replace them as fast! yey. Good find :)

I've tried everything in the past, all with mixed results. Rice and water. Works great as long as the bottle isn't too bad and I can keep shaking it to loosen all the crud. Pipe cleaners work great in the nozzles but have to be bent in all sorts of odd ways to get under the rim of the bottle. Most bottle brushes that will get under the rim won't fit through the throat of the bottle. I just happened on this brush looking for something else entirely. LOVE hardware stores, lol!!!

they really do have amazing things at hardware stores. my boyfriend thinks I should get a paintbrush there to scoop the pig poop off the fleece... he thinks it will work better than the brush I use (the one that comes with the dust pan). who knows. But I'm definitely gonna put that on my list to go pick up a hummingbird brush!

I'll have to look for that brush. My water bottles never get very slimy, just a little on the rubber part of the top, but I do need something that's easy to clean them with.

Jenny, the stiffer the brush the better it removes the hair and hay from the fleece. The poos don't usually stick to the fleece, so any brush removes those. I don't think a paint brush will do the job, but a wallpaper brush might, the kind to apply the paste to the paper. Lint brushes don't work, as they have to be cleaned after every stroke. I use the brush that came with the dust pan, and the whisk broom takes off what the softer brush leaves behind. Hand vac cleans off even more. I use the Black and Decker 9.7v dust buster. Picks up the surface stuff but doesn't suck up the fleece.

Lonestar, my bottles seem to get bad in the summer more than winter. May be seasonal additives to the water that don't come out in the filter. It can get slimy quickly, especially under the lip. Be glad you don't have the problem. I use a baby bottle nipple brush to clean the nozzles. Works great!

I noticed the loose bedding, so I would have a bumper of Plexiglas around the inside to keep it in the cage. I have a Plexi front, now, and just wipe it with a cloth during the weekly bedding change. I love the water bottle holders. Probably handmade.

It definitely looks nicer than my grids, coro and metal bottle holders!!!

Re: Coppola Piggles - !!Momo Has A Lump!!

Momo is off to the vet Monday morning to get a mammary lump checked out. No other signs of problems, so I am hoping it's just a fatty lump. Morty and Mia will go with her for company and moral support. Now that the girls get along, I think it's safe to put them together in a carrier full of hay.

For those who remember, LG had lumps that kept recurring about the same time ever year. After one lumpectomy and the lumps returning, she had a full hysterectomy. Lumps never returned. If the doctor thinks it's a hormonal issue, since Mia is still young, about 2 year old, I may go for the hysterectomy now.

I do need to pay for the extra post op care. Most vets send animals home along with subQ fluids and other treatments. My hands won't do the subQ fluids or intramuscular pain reliever injections, and which can be fairly important post op, so I will also discuss that with the vet, Monday.

Re: Coppola Piggles - !!Lump Gone???!!

This afternoon I cleaned the cage, and while I was doing that, put the pigs in the tub so they'd be clean for their trip to the vet tomorrow. I could not feel the lump. I checked her in every reasonable position, at least six times, and no lump. I will check again tonight. If I don't find the lump, I will cancel the appointment.

I felt the lump while holding her in several different positions, so it was her ribs. If it's really gone, that implies hormones/cycle, and not just a fatty lump. I haven't decided if I'd rather not feel it again and not know, or find it and be able to get it checked out. I'll post the result, whatever it is.

UPDATE: Could not find the lump last night or this morning, so I cancelled the vet appointment. I will check her regularly, just in case. Quite relieved that it definitely is not a tumor.
