I am in the process of sorting out fleece for the piggies cage, picked up some really nice prints, from a stall not far from me. In the process of washing it. Is twice enough as well as a rinse with white vinigar?

use hot water, and detergent the first time - once the piggys have use the fleece the vinegar is added to the wash to remove odors. I put a bit of vinegar in the 'bleach' compartment when I was pig bedding. also do not use fabric softener.

What a beautiful cage! I love their white hidey. Is that something you made? It looks quite fun for any piggy.

The white hidey came with the cage, they seem to love it as they can all fit in it together, they seem to get on with tia better than they did before she had the babies.

I used to have a hidey like that. It came with a storebought cage. I'd forgotten all about it. I cut a doorway in the other end so the boys could pass through. They love it. I finally took it out because one of the boys would get on top and jump on the other when he came out of the house, lol. Oh, that brings back memories!!!

I didn't get on that well with fleece (just a personal preference) and it's not a suitable bedding for outdoor piggys in the winter as holds too much cold and moisture from the air but I love how it looks in indoor cages. I really like the pattern on yours and the piggys all look very happy with it.

Newpig pointed out a good issue. I wouldn't use fleece outdoors, either, and probably wouldn't regularly use Vet Bed, either. Most bulk loose bedding options were designed for outdoor use, which is why they are a messy option when used indoors. The newer, recycled paper beddings like CareFresh were designed for indoor use. Now pet stores sell them all together as if everything works the same anywhere.

Yeah we started with wood shavings but that just got messy!! Then we went on to vet bed which worked ok for a while then once the pile started to loosen everything seemed to get stuck in it. I always noticed a smell in the flat when i was to walk in after work but never thought much of it and just thought it was the hay. But since having the fleece the smell has gone so must have been the vet bed. My sister was talking about the smell over dinner tonight and i said it had gone now so hoping she can tell the difference. It is also sooo easy to clean takes 2 minutes rather than ages tryin to get all the poo and hay out of the vet bed and also looks like a brand new cage after every sweep up. So I am very happy. The piggies also seem to love it, got a few bits of fleece left over so tryin to work out what i can do with it to make the cage a little more fun for them.

If you feel like sewing, you can have a look at this (German) website for patterns. I have made the tunnels, although I have made the second one smaller, because the first can hold a tribe! You can handsew a tunnel in an evening or two (I did, as I do not have a sewing machine!) This is my first attempt at a tunnel: This is where I got the patterns and measurements from: www.spikeskleinewelt.de/Kuschelecke.html

Well done!!!! Love the link. Schweinchen, lol, fun name for piggies, meaning pigs like in little pig mud wrestling pigs, lol. Most Germans call 'm Meeri, an abbreviation of Meerschweinchen, "pigs of the sea".

Well I may have another pregnancy on the cards, hoping i realised in time. But I had the girls out on floor time and had stewie on my lap, I then put stewie back in his cage, I turned my back for less then 30 seconds to get his hammock and found on Flick had jumped in. He seemed to run away from her as I approached the cage. Guess its just a waiting game. Cant believe i turned my back and she snuck in. Really annoyed with myself now.

Ooh, determined little girl, lol. I found my girls were much worse flirts with the boys than vice versa.
Yodelpig, I added that site to the Resource Thread in Wheekerpedia. Great site. Thanks!!! My sewing machine is so noisy, I prefer hand sewing.

I think I may have to rename honey to poppy!! All she does is popcorn all over the place bless her, i am soo glad she is happy, while I was cutting the new fleece for their cage this afternoon the pigs loved playing in it and all of the where popcorning as well, even tia when she was toddling around the floor earlier which i never see her do, guess they are soo much happier in that bedding
