Thanks to a good idea from pigjes I have decided to give you all an overview of my piggies.
Tia is the one furthest on the left, she is the new arrival who at the minute is a very scared baby, although she already has her own personalty and i can't wait to get to know her better,
Charlie is the one in the middle, she is a proper sweetheart although she can be a little bit of a bully to tia sometimes. She loves to lick anything and when it comes to floor time she ended up running circles and circles at high speed around her cage. She is normally as good as gold when u have her on your lap and will sit there giving you kisses all the time if she good, other when they have parsley in their mouths! Its their fave treat and they can never have enough but i try to limit it due to the high caclium.
The on of the right is Flick, she is the leader of the herd by miles and lets everyone know that! I cant even go nr the kitchen down before she wheeks the house down. She is one cheeky madam but she is lovely in the morning when you first come in. She comes out of her house and starts attempting to talk to you. I like to think she is saying hello but i am sure its just "mommy i want some food" she is a big lover of red pepper and will literally yank it out of your hand. During lap time she is wriggly madam and dont normally stay still. But I think she does have a good way of sensing how i am feeling. If i get upset she stays still and lets me cuddle her. I am hoping she does this for the next 6 months after my other half leaves for deployment on monday.
I am now a sucker for guinea pigs and i would be lost without them i hate leaving them for 24 hours lol! Soon as we get a bigger house they are going to have their own room and we can get more.

It seems like such a small thing, but it means so much to know she's relaxing around you. Way to go!!!

It's wonderful seeing them learning they're loved and have a slave to care for their every need.

I am glad that Tia is settling in now and will hopefully come out of her shell soon, when she feels confident about her new home and friends!

sounds like tia is settling in nicely, I remember when popcorn ate out of our hands. We were all so thrilled especially Keith (3 year old) whom was feeding popcorn. Also remember the first time they slept without hiding. Such tiny steps but they mean so much.

Thanks all, she is slowly getting there, although flick and charlie still pick on her every now and again. But she is getting more confident as time goes. She used to stay in her house when i went to the cage to give them their veggies in the mornin, but now she pretty much comes out after a minute of hearin the veg go down.
Altho I did have an issue with Charlie, she is always so soft and licks all the time where as today i had her out of the cage and she nipped instead of biting. I was not too fussed about this, but then out of no where she suddenly had a bad nip. It only scratched but she has never done this before so was a little concerned. May be she needed a wee or something, just thought it was out of character. Later on in the day she was find and licking me all the time. Odd eh?

Here is a gorgeous picture of Tia and my other half, I am sure if it was possible he would love the piggies more than me. He has gone to sea for 6 months at the moment and think this was her way of saying goodbye. I am hoping she will be a different piggie when he comes bk and a little more confident. He tells me he misses them more than me as they are babies and I am not lol. Charming! She is a little bit of a climber and has sharp claws no matter how i much I clip them. Thinkin of putting a block in their cage to help blunt them down. The amount of sracthes i have is unreal.

Oh, I still have scars from when my late and beloved Zippy used to chomp me out of nowhere. Don't know what would get into him, but he'd be fine and then CHOMP!!! They do outgrow it.
Your other half looks quite at home with a pig on his shoulder, lol. Yep, he'll be a piggy daddy when he comes back, and she'll know it.

Tia had started to come out of her shell a little more. But I am not sure what has gone on but she seems soo shy again at the minute. She is still eating and has learnt when food has in their cage and will come out and have a munch, but other than that she stays in her house. If I manage get her on my lap she hides her head in my arms. She still wont eat from my hand either. Do you think I should leave her and start handling her again when she is more confident or carry on like I am doing?
I currently take them out of the cage for floor time for about 30-45 minutes a day and have them on my lap most days as well when I get five minutes to relax. When tia is on floor time she does wonder around a little but but any sudden movment from me she runs for cover! Of course when its time to pick them up all of them are a nightmare to catch, but I think thats just piggiee behavour. I just want her to be a happy piggie or should I be prepared for a timid piggie for life?

Try holding her about 15 minutes at a time - because she's timid like our Goldie, she might not tell you when she needs to go and holding her more times for shorter time could help her timidness as she learns what you tell her to let her know she's going to be held for a bit. Some piggies even will learn to go when they hear they'll be held.
As far as floor time goes, lots of cardboard boxes with openings cut in the sides to spread out around the play area will provide the hideys they love and make that play area not seem so open to them.
