I think that's why I like using the camera on the phone, Jo. It's all pretty obvious what needs to be done to get the picture I want. It pretty much sets itself to whatever the conditions are, barring total light versus total darkness. Turning the flash on and off is easy enough. The DSLR has so many menus, or levels of menu, and after a while I get lost in all the choices, so I greatly prefer the camera on my phone. 90% of what I want to do is really easy to do.
I just say a picture of a place called Ulting, in Essex, England. It apparently gets snow in the winter, if anyone wants to find a place that looks really Christmassy. Looks like a great place for some wintery pictures.

Oooh that's nice, Baz!
There's supposed to be a good meteor show tonight (assuming it's not too cloudy to see - we have a chance of clear skies from what I can tell), so I should really have a quick look for some tips on taking photos of one - I haven't the foggiest!

They are good compared to complicated cameras aren't they Piggles love? You just take the pic as you see it. That is a great pic Baz love, I have always loved our moon.

Jo, I think, and I am guessing here, that the cameras on the phones have taken Point and Click to a whole new level, actually using settings we would normally have to set, to correct the exposure, etc. I'm glad you can see this picture, Jo. I have no idea why the burlap people only show in two colors for you? Yes, we have a good snow covering. I don't think we're supposed to get more snow for at least a week. Flurries, maybe, but no accumulation. We should get temps above freezing on Monday and Tuesday, then back to below freezing, so hopefully the snow will last until Christmas day. So far, no birds have hit the door since I hung the bow on it

Oh I've just realised I totally forgot about the meteor shower last night, but I'm quite sure I didn't miss anything as the weather was grim - freezing sideways rain all night, so I doubt there was a speck of clear sky!

Probably Piggles sweetie, you know how behind the times I am LOL. The cell phone we have is 10 years old but it does take pictures. It has been cold here hasn't it Bean hunni? We have had to have our heaters on the meter is spinning itself off the wall as Paul would say. We have noticed a severe increase in usage.

I'm glad I don't have a meter on my heat/cooling, or I probably wouldn't use either one! It does seem as if it's spinning out of control! The electric meter is off the beaten path, so I don't have to watch it spin. I'm not sure which is worse, seeing the meter spinning, or waiting for the next big bill from the oil or propane company. We've been lucky for quite a few years not to have electric or oil heat. Natural gas is the least expensive, and propane the next least expensive. We have propane, now, and had natural gas at the last house. When we had oil, we had huge bills! I know you don't want to see high bills, but you have to stay warm, as do the beasties.

We have a little red light on ours that blinks faster when you put the kettle on etc! But it's behind the fridge so we can ignore it most of the time!
We pay a set amount each month for our energy all year round - it's more than we use in summer, less than we use in winter. It means there are no nasty shocks. But I know you can't do that with all the types of meter.

I do the same thing. I set my own budget amount, so as you said, no big bills during high use times. I do that with the electric and the cell phones. I picked an amount a bit higher than the regular cell phone bill, so if we went over, we'd be covered. Can't do that with the propane company, yet. They want to see what our usage is, and it's only been less than a year and a half since we moved in, so I'm sure they want to make sure we've had time to show them how we really use the propane. I check the bills, anyway, to make sure we weren't overcharged, or that we aren't using too much. I would probably put tape over that blinking red light, Bean, LOL I think you pay more for electricity in the UK than we do in New Hampshire. I think we're around 11 cents per kilowatt hour, which really isn't bad. Some places are as high as 95 cents per kilowatt hour, so I'm not complaining. If we can only afford so much, we stop using as much. Still, I can't imagine a normal family getting a bill for $800/mo for electricity, despite all they try to save, and that's what it could be where it's the most expensive.

Leccy is very expensive here no matter which company you are with. We are forever getting phone calls and letters asking us to swap but there isn't really much to choose between them. I am always mindful of my little ones getting cold feet but the heater is on for a much longer period now and their little feeties are lovely and warm Hugs JO xx

We heat the house to 60F, or 15.6C, which is very comfy for me, and leaves hubby freezing. He wears warm clothes, which is a lot less expensive than using more heat. Also, the guinea pigs are much more active once the temp drops in the winter. In the summer, I cool to 68F/20C. Hubby is still freezing, and goes outside to get warm. Gets a lot of outside work done that way Definitely not to hot for the guinea pigs, yet they are less active then than once I lower the temp to 60. Then they start popcorning and talking, and generally carrying on By heating to 60, I also have temp room to cook, which adds more heat to the great room, without driving me outside to cool off Our heat has been going almost solidly since yesterday. When I got up at 7:30 this morning, the temp was up to -5F/-20.6C, felt like -12F/-24.4C. We left the faucets dripping overnight for the last two nights, so the pipes wouldn't freeze. It's no 11 a.m., and the temp is up to 15F/-9.4C. I think today is supposed to be the coldest day of this weather pattern. Hubby has been putting out extra seed and peanuts for the squirrels and birds. The sunrises have been spectacular on the snow, like lighting diamonds

I am always boiling hot Piggles love when all around me are cold ad it does annoy me when you go into a public building and it is stifling. Hospitals are bad for that.
That is a fabulous photo Baz hunny, thanks very much for sharing.
