That's great news. They know their cage and surroundings, now, and can pay attention to other things.

Brillo's eyes have fully healed now, and this morning he was purring like crazy when it was time for his favourite treat. Apple! Heres a picture of Jackson in the run from last week.

We went into the pet shop the other day, and there is a guinea pig up for adoption. He is so tiny due to an illness when he was younger. He is about 6-8 months old. But alot smaller than Jackson and Brillo who are only around 11 weeks old. He has recovered from his illness now, but still needs a home. My mum was instantly attatched to this little guinea. (He is pure black in colour, and his name is Alfie) Mum wants to go down to the pet shop later and see if he is still there. However i'm nervous about if we get him. Im unsure how the other two would take to him. And he's so small. Any advice would be great. However the decision to get him, (If he is even still there!) is not 100% yet. Thanks,

the more the merrier i always say! as long as you have a large enough space for them, although it might be a good idea to settle the new piggy in a cage of his own and then introduce him to the others once he has settled with you/in your home. they need to be introduced very slowly, in a neutral area. i have never had to introduce piggies but there are many people here who have so im sure you'll get loads more advice!

There are two approaches to introducing a new pig. One is to put him in a cage by himself until he gets used to his surroundings, usually 21 days to make sure he doesn't have any health problems. Once that quarantine period is up, put all the pigs in a large, neutral area with nothing but water bottles and a pile of hay, and let them get to know each other.
If you have to do a meet and greet, then the pigs have already mixed, and there's not much point to quarantine. Then it's better to put them in the same type of neutral area while you totally clean the cage and everything in it of the old scents, then just put them all in together and let them work out their differences.
Ooh, a new piggy. That's always sooooo much fun!!!

Hehe, Thanks for all the advice, However little Alfie was no longer there. Although that does mean he has been successfully re-homed. Which is good news.

We saw two brothers at a pet store up for adoption, if only we had the space I could have hundred piggies and that would still not be enough lol, piggies for adoption always pull at the heart strings, your piggies are just gorgeous,

I've been away for so long. So I thought I'd give abit of an update. Brillo and Jackson are doing great! However with the very very cold weather here in the UK. There outdoor run time has been limited. We've had so much snow! They have stayed tucked up and cosy though with their insulation cover I bought for their cage. They've even had a cardboard box stuffed with hay, which they snuggle in and keep very warm. In the morning when I go out to feed them, they crawl out of the hay box yawning. So I'm guessing they think its snuggly in there.

Welcome back Ayemee, and thanks for the update. Glad they like their box. Hub thinks I'm strange looking at every cardboard box as possible piggy house, lol. It has been a wierd winter over there. Glad they are enjoying their house and have each other for company!!!

Welcome back! My mom loves the pigs, I am shocked I didn't have any growing up. I was a fully grown mid-30's-year-old woman before I got my first guinea pigs!!!!

The decent weather has retured! My boys were out this afternoon in the sunshine with some veggies and their hay tunnel. Its so lovely that they are comfortable with me now, I am allowed to stroke them in their cage, and im greeted with alot of loving fuss in the morning. (However when its time to be picked up, they shoot off like darts) haha. Just thought i'd update, they are doing just fine. EDIT: Brillo's injury to his eye a few months ago was caused by the log tunnel in his play pen. It was exchanged, but the other did the same thing. I've gotten rid of it totally and don't recommend buying them, through personal experience.
