Guinea pigs get allergies just as we do. You can disolve 1 4mg tablet of Chlortimeton in 4ccs of water and give him half to 1 mg every 12 hours as needed. Start with the low dose.
Pigs do many things to make their points. It's hard to know exactly why they adopt a certain behavior, but fairly simple to gently change it.

It is so true love, ours have got us wrapped around their little paws.
This mornring they had a breakfast of mixed, greens and a grape. I know grapes aren;t good given too often but I love seeing their little mouths take the grape from my hand; they really love them.
I haven;t been wee-weeddon for some time now, when they were babies obviously it was more frequent.

Haha yeah, he's looking alot better this morning already! ;D Well today was abit of an.. adventure. haha! I set up the play pen with a divider on the grass. Jackson and Brillo on one side, Bailey and Logan the other side. (To say that B&L are meant to be 2 years older than J&B they are abit smaller...) At first they didnt even notice eachother. The Jackson caught sight of Logan and ran over the the bars. He did alot of nose touching with Logan. Then Jackson starting rumbling. So Brillo wondered what was going on. He came over and started rumbling too. When J&B both realised they were trying to be dominant, Brillo mounted Jackson.. He wanted to prove he was still number one boss! I moved Jackson and Brillo out into the separate run, where the mounting and a little rumbling carried on. I put a towel over the play pen so they couldnt see eachother. After that things calmed down alot. I've put them away, and since they've been back in the hutch, they've only had one little rumble session. I was very worried I'd started some arguement between Jackson and Brillo. But things look like they're getting back to normal. I've never actually seen dominance behaviour from any of my piggies before. So all of this was probably nothing too much to worry about. I never plan to mix both pairs together anyway. I was hoping they could try to share the playpen with a divider... Was this normal behaviour?! It got me worried..

Sometimes dominance behavior between bonded pigs is a joint show of dominance to outside pigs. That may have spurred the mounting, etc., as one is saying " look at me, I'm the boss" to the other pair. It should be fine. Boars are always a bit tricky.

Things have settled down alot today. They've all been outside, due to some nice sunshine here in the UK today. There has been no dominace behaviour today, but they havent seen eachother since yesterday. I was hoping that they would be able to play together in the run, but not live together. It looks like this might not happen. I'm happy Brillo & Jackson seem to have settled today though. I think they both just wanted to say 'hang on a minute, we were here first and this is our mummy not yours!' haha

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been gone for so long. Thought I'd let you all know how the boys are getting on. Brillo and Jackson are doing great. They are finally almost out of their adolescent age, and they still get along wonderful. Which is great news! Logan and Bailey are also doing great. They've settled down really well in their new home. Logan wheeked at me for the first time the other day, so I can tell he's feeling at home! He now knows his new piggie slave! haha. Hope you all had a great christmas, and all your piggies are doing well.

That's great! The boys are happy, so you are happy! Hope you had a great Christmas, and have a Happy New Year! Yep that's always the case. If they are happy, I am happy. ;D They must of loved me today. They got new cardboard tunnels and forage food. I've never heard them wheek so loud when the bag rustled! Same to you! Have a great new year!

Thanks everyone, Hope you all had a good Christmas too.
Since Logan and Bailey have been the least vocal to start off with, its very strange to hear them wheek. Logan is the smallest of all my piggies and his wheek is adorable! I never noticed how different all their wheeks can be! ;D
I'll try and get some pictures later.

I noticed that unless they are all wheeking for treats, each herd has had one vocal pig with a great voice, who did all the requests. They really do have different voices, and have quite a language of individual sounds.
Morty does a mrmp, mrmp, mrmp sound. Mia does a prrrrmp sound, and Momo rarely makes any sound. Mia does the talking, wheeking about everything in many different ways. Momo and Morty rarely wheek except for treats.
Now that all your boys are talking, you'll get to know them a lot better. Enjoy!!!

You are so right 3 piggles love, our Lolly is a very vocal little girl and when she is demanding food, it is a different wheek to the "I just want some attention" one.

Their wheeks are lovely. I've got some new pigtures for you all! ;D For once I have a clear one of Brillo! Normally he's too much of a fidget bum! Sorry they are so small, my computer isnt cooperating with me at the moment. ;D The bad news is that Logan is being taken to the vet tomorrow. Over the past week I've noticed him losing weight which is never good. He still has a healthy appetite and I've been hand feeding him to ensure that Bailey isn't stealing all the food. I'm praying for news that isn't something terrible. He's my baby of the bunch. So worried.

All digits crossed that Logan is okay, or it's an easy problem to treat. (((HUGS)))
The pigtures are great. That last one is wonderful!!!

Thank you! It was nice to get some of Brillo, he's usually camera shy. In the end I took Logan and Bailey. I got them both out of the cage to find that Bailey had some sores on the side of his body that had only appeared the past couple of days. I took them both to find out it was mites and that Logan's weight loss was to do with stress from it. The Vet took some hairs and skin swabs to examine, she said that she would contact me if there was anything else I needed to know. Fingers crossed it will be okay. They were both given an injection rather than the spot on, because she thought Logan needed a much more drastic treatment, we didn't want him losing any more weight... She also gave me a 'recovery' medicine. I have to mix it with water and give it to Logan over the next 24 hours. Its a horrid green colour, but Logan loves it! He fights me to get more! Which is great. ;D Logan squeeled very loudly when he had the injection. It made me feel so awful. The vet told me to hold him after the injection, and sure enough he snuggled into me. A cuddle was all he needed to calm him down. I'll keep letting you all know how he is doing.

Adorable pictures, especially the last one! Sorry to hear about the mites, but at least you have a solution to the weight loss and everyone will be healthy and happy again soon.

I'm sorry they had to have the injections. You will need to treat all your pigs, as you can carry parasites between pigs on you clothing, and any shared bedding does the same thing. You can use the topical Ivermectin for any pigs that didn't get the injection, and it's painless.
I only had to get the injections once. Zippy (avatar) was the first to get the injection. He didn't wheek or try to bite the vet or anything. He ran across the exam table and up my front, and promptly ate my Tshirt. It looked like swiss cheese when he was through venting, lol. Momma and LG both tried to bite the vet. I bought topical Ivermectin after that, and for the price, keep it on hand just in case.
I really hope getting rid of the mites stops the stress and aggression. Mites are horrible things for pigs, as nothing they do like scratching stops the little monsters. Don't get the pigs wet, even butt dunks, until the mites are gone. Water really makes mites active. Good luck!!!
