Telyn was feverish this morning, was apathetic and completely off food, and her few poos were slimy with one tiny fleck of blood.
She wasn't bright yesterday evening when we came back home after a night away, but there were no distinct signs as to what could be wrong. She's had a little bit of crust around her eyes and her nose, but no other signs of URI.
I am still waiting for hubby to come home, so we can have her seen by the vet today.
In the meantime, I have given Telyn some baytril and water, followed by some Critical Care and probiotics an hour later (and will continue to give her some every now and then to keep her weight and hydration levels up). Her temperature is normal again at the moment, but I am still stumped as to what we are dealing with! She has been separated in case it is something infectious.

We have been to the vets. Telyn has been diagnosed with gut stasis and got a metroclopramide (?) injection to restart her guts. Otherwise I am to continue with the Critical Care and probitiotics.
She has perked up that little bit in the late afternoon and has shown some interest in a little bit of cucumber and carrot, and is a lot more grumpy now.
I have to take her back to the vets if the belly is not as rumbly as it should be by tomorrow.

Glad it was treatable, even if you have to do extra work to keep her full and happy. At least grumpy takes effort. I'll keep my fingers crossed that she is back to her normal self by tomorrow, and doesn't have to go back to the vet.

I hope Telyn gets better soon! Do they know what caused the gut stasis? Get well soon Telyn. xx

Hope she feels better soon! I agree with 3piggles, grumpy does take effort and is certainly better than lethargy.

I hope Telyn gets better soon! Do they know what caused the gut stasis? Get well soon Telyn. xx As Telyn is also shedding lots of hair, the vet thinks that it is down to stress. My newbie Caron has been rescued from a very bad background and is currently mixing up the cosy community of the Tribe pretty effectively with her cut throat/bullying behavior that must have underpinned life at her previous place. I hope that eventually they will all settle down again together once they have worked through the issues.

Aw, poor babies. Poor Telyn is a nervous wreck over the changes, and poor Caron is so used to a negative life style, she is having trouble moving past it. I hope it sorts itself out soon. Hugs to all of you!!!

I am so relieved to say that Telyn is much more her usual self again this morning and has got her appetite back; she's currently tucked in in the hay hay tray under the tv.
Anyway, I am keeping her topped up with Critical care and of course am keeping a close look on her poos; but if things are continuing this way, I am very hopeful that we won't have to make another stressful trip to the vets in the icy weather we're currently having.

That is great!!! She probably needed a little special time with you. I've found some pigs just like the pampering of being feed and given meds. Glad she's doing better!!!

Poor cutie! Many kisses to her! I've used the same medicine in the past for stasis and has been successfull. I hope she'll be completely back to normal soon!

Thanks, Telyn is pretty much back to normal. Her poos are still slightly on the soft side, but not worryingly so, and her appetite is definitely fully back!

That is great news. Hopefully having the upset regular members of the herd get past their upsets will help them help Caron to get settled and past her issues. Hugs!!!
