My dear Jake passed away peacefully over Rainbow Bridge yesterday evening. Jake with his brother Squeekie came to live with me at 6 months old in early January 2003. I kept the boys original names but gave them middles name, Jake Simon and Squeekie Garfunkel. Not knowing exactly when they were born, I chose a date for them to celebrate their birthday based on when their previous owner had brought them home which is 3rd July 2002. After a while the boys weren’t getting along as well, so with lots of research, knowing my vet had a lot of experience and lots of nail biting, both Jake and Squeekie were neutered and were able to live with my 4 girls. Jake lived with Sweetpea and Jasmine, Squeekie with Clover and Peachy in October 2003. Jake was very shy and timid when he came to me but his confidence grew enormously, becoming a very outgoing guinea pig. Jake was a gorgeous big boy who loved to rumble strut passed his ladies and always seemed to wave his hips while walking which earned him the nickname ‘Elvis’. While holding Jake he used to spread his little back legs out and always looked contented and relaxed. My dear Jake aka Elvis, I know you are re-united with your cage mate Jasmine and I know you’ll be rumble strutting passed Peachy who you always made a beeline for when you were altogether. Run free my Jakey boy, keep doing your Elvis impression to impress the ladies. xx And a movie of Jake with Peachy, Squeekie and Sweetpea taken 27th April 2007 smg.photobucket.com/albums/v217/Peachy1/Movies/?action=view¤t=mypiggies.flv

I'm really sorry to hear that Jake passed away. He was such a sweet little guinea pig, and always made me laugh whenever you talked about him rumbling with Peachy (R.I.P - dear girl). He had a very tough battle to fight with that stone, but at least now he is pain free up on the Rainbow Bridge, probably happily chatting to Peachy, Clover and Jasmine. Rest in Peace - Angel Jake. Mweekie!

Oh no, I'm so sorry Jackie. You must be devastated, and I know all of us here will be gutted that our little Jake didn't make it too. He fought so hard didn't he, bless him, and you and your vet did everything possible to help him - life's just rotten sometimes, isn't it. It must be a comfort to you that it was peaceful, and he's had such a long happy life that this recent illness is barely the blink of an eye in terms of all his wonderful time with you.
Sleep tight little Jake, you sweet, handsome boy.

Jackie and family Im sat here in utter disbelief. Jackie you always try so very very hard with all of your family, I dont know why this had to happen to you. I cannot believe that this year has been so cruel to someone who is so loving towards everyone, including her family and animals. I am sending you loads and loads of love and hugs, to try and help ease the pain. Please know that we all love you here and will be here to support you. Jake-man - I know you will have had a huge welcoming committee when you reached Rainbow Bridge. There will be girls swooning all over you! I have loved your pictures and reading your tales. Taz always had a soft spot for you too, but was Lucky's girl. Enjoy running around in the endless supply of lush green grass with all your Wheekers buddies. with all our love and thoughts, Anna, Andy, girls and Woody. xxx xxx

Oh, Jackie... I wish there was something I could say to make the pain less, something I could do to make it easier. I know you love your piggies like babies, and I can only imagine how hard it must be to lose Jake and Peachy so close together. I know they are both very thankful for the wonderful life you gave them, and are now completely at peace together in a place where there will no longer be any pain or suffering. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Jackie we have communicated continuously on KCC but I wanted to post here, at Jake's real home ground too.
I always say special piggies come with special owners and Jackie you are no exception, a very special piggy slave, who fought so very hard for dear Jake, no stone left unturned, facing many an obstacle along way, but fight you did.
Life seems very unfair when after so much hard work and dedication our dear friends still leave us, but Jake did fight this as hard as his little self could. He crossed to the Bridge peacefully, with his mum, in the comfort of his own home, I hope that at least will give you and the rest of the family some small comfort now.
Jake was extraordinarily brave, and so very very handsome, I feel privileged to have known of his life with you Jackie, and will never forget him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Jackie, you now need time to recover from what has been an awful time for you lately.
Jake is now with all his dearly loved friends, but best of all in the care of Peter now.
Love
Karen

Jackie...
Everyone has said so many kind and true things and I can only second them.
A real run of sadness for you this year and each loss is as hard as the last. Keep in your heart that Jake is suffering no more and is happy at the bridge with all the other muched loved past pets.
Thinking of you, your family and the other piggies.
xx

Jake had that movie star quality with his dashing good looks and that charismatic wiggle in his walk. No wonder all of the ladies swooned when he walked by. He shared the name with one of America's greatest song writers, Paul Simon. I would like like to think that Mr. Simon had Jake in mind when he wrote the song, "Late in the Evening," pure rhythm and happiness with Jake leading the conga line He certainly brought much joy to his Mum and extended family of aunties throughout the world. You did a wonderful job Jakey boy in loving your family. Well done little man, well done
