I have not bought the 'Greenies' but I was using another less expensive type of the same thing. Mushka has a sensitive stomach and some of those teeth cleaning chews make her puke - mint smelling dog puke is just as nasty!!!! I had the Vet clean their teeth this year, since they are "Seniors"; Mu had the tip of her molar broken with the root exposed!!!! so the vet pulled it, apparently it is very common, the result of chewing on hard things. I have been careful as to what goes into her mouth now a days. Indy would eat the teeth cleaners so fast they didn't have a chance to clean her teeth - but she would have minty smelling burps! Another great, and i mean great, thing to use to clean a dog's teeth and freshen breath is a Kong (http://www.kongcompany.com/) they have many great products for this purpose. Take a look at the website. I have lots of Kong toys for my dogs.

I'm so sorry to hear about Tangerine. RIP Also, on you list of dislikes, why don't you like monkeys? they are so cute?

popcornpiggie I have a few kongs - i stuff them with treats & peanut butter or spray cheese - then ill freeze them. it takes much longer for the girls to get the goodies out when they are frozen. but once the treats are gone they leave the slimy kongs alone. I love to see their eyes light up when they see the kong...lol
Monkeys are just weird! I don't really know why, but I've always been bothered by monkeys; little bush babies are cute and there are a few small primates I can tolerate - but Chimps, I'll pass - I avoid the monkeys at the zoo. I love the lemurs - hate the monkeys! I think Jungle Book messed me up, King Louie, you just can't trust him. - lol Oddly enough I call my cat Kiva "Monkey".

Oh! My dogs are obsessed over their Kong. Even if it's not filled they are chewing on it. But when it is filled, they get really excited.

One of Rosy's eggs hatched today: The second egg may hatch tomorrow; When I held the egg up to my ear I can hear the little chick tapping inside the egg. The little chick is very yellow and fuzzy, with a bill stripe - I don't know if Lucky or Tangerine is the father, I would be very happy if Tangerine (RIP) was the dad, but its too soon to tell.

Baby is 7.7g - egg laid on 07/16 (Mulberry) Egg #2 is 5.2g - laid on 07/15 (Strawberry) The little doves grow so fast - the hatching is twice as big as the egg! Egg #2 has not hatched yet...hopefully by the end of the day it will.

My little dove is doing well and growing fast...unfortunately egg #2 never hatched, and the chick died in its shell. I don't think there was anything I could have done; the baby was not strong enough to break through the shell. Rosy is doing a great job sitting on the nest - she is very protective of the nest and is wing slapping me like crazy.

I'm sorry to hear about egg 2 .... how sad. What did you do with the egg? Glad that the other baby is doing well though!

I have never had a dove chick die in its egg or a baby die...the prior owner of Rosy said she had a lot of fatalities in the hatchlings...there is a gene that (like in pigs) can be deadly in two doses - the chick will die in its shell or only live a few days. My birds do not carry the (Frosty) gene, but Rosy may, and her eggs may have been fertilized by another male form the prior owners aviary. Well, I carefully broke the egg open to look at the chick...she looked normal, bill stripe and white downy fuzz...so if she was Lucky + Rosy, then Lucky is blond split white so the baby would have been white and Female. She is buried in a little grave out by the pond. The new baby, should, in theory be a blond or a blond ivory and male.

I am my own pet too!! So I have not been around too much lately...Ive been working on two 48 Hour Films, and last weekend I was a Motion Capture performer at The Makers Faire. In a prior post I have a photo of my dog Mushka with glowing balls on her...well this is the wired suit version on me!!! We won a blue ribbon for "Editors Choice" This is how motion is captured from me and all my movements to an avatar... as seen in movies, and video games.

Its truly amazing to see how fast they grow! just a week ago he was in an egg the size of a cotton ball! At 11 days old he will be fully feathered, all the pin feathered will be fluffed up. At 14 days old he will be ready to leave the nest. The parents will still feed him and teach him how to find food on his own. Around 6-8 months he will be mature enough to breed - that is when you can sex the males by behavior and females may start to lay eggs. They will also moult their baby feathers and the adult feathers will come in.

Baby Dove update: 57grams today, hes a bit more squirmy and will grasp on to your finger with his little toes. Edel and Truffles look so cute sitting in the nest together; but I have eliminated all other dove eggs from the cages - they were all infertile.
