The Omen Trilogy, Con Air and a Christmas Carol (one with George C Scott) are a few of my favourites.

The Pink Panther series has been showing on the retro movie channel. Always good to get a laugh from Peter Sellers!

Oh I watched it (you're right, it's called 'The Artist') with the same lack of expectation and thought it was great - that dog was really sweet too!

Our Western and Retro channels often run the old John Wayne movies, when he played Singing Sandy the bandit/alter ego good guy, and as he started to branch out into other western characters. Those movies are awful compared to what we have now. He rides out of frame to the right and back into frame from the left. He chases the bad guys across pure desert, and right into a grove of trees??? But the acting is interesting in that it's a combination of silent and talkies. It's as if the music and over acting tell most of the story, but instead of printing the lines as silent films did, the actors/actresses speak the lines. They hadn't gotten to writing actual scripts for the actors, there were no great movie sets or special camera angles, nothing. Just silent films with the players speaking the few lines.
I love CGI, and think it's about the greatest special effect I've ever seen, but watching what they tried to create with no special effects and basically one camera, is a bit amazing.

The Cable Guy is on the watch online list, Margaret - let me know if you like it, I think some people find it a bit dark but that's my kind of humour!

I haven't seen it - I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
I'd like to see Captain Phillips. Oh and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 as I loved the first one! Think it's out over half term.

I have such a long list of movies I wanted to see, and I just never get around to watching them. I think having a recorder on the TV cable box means we always have shows recorded that we want to watch, and can hardly keep up with them. Hubby recorded the first episode of the new show "Blacklist" and didn't watch it. I deleted it after a month. Tends to be the case most often, so we rarely get to sit down and watch a whole movie. Maybe if it's really bitterly cold and snowy this winter, we can spend more time vegging in front of the boob tube, and watch some movies then

We just watched World War Z and that was pretty disappointing! We usually enjoy a good zombie film, but it just didn't hit the spot and there weren't any characters that made us care too much what was going on. Ah well, hopefully our next rental will be better!

It got lousy reviews. I really wish movie and TV producers wouldn't all jump on the same theme, and over due it. American TV has gotten 'in your face' violent, following the Japanese 'Kill Bill' approach. I can skip that. As much as I like the show Bones, I don't like the bodies, or what's left of them. Reality I don't need! I'm also tired or vampires and zombies. Enough! I find myself watching the retro channels a lot more, old movies, etc.

I love zombie films too as long as they are not comedies. I like The Walking Dead but you don;t see much of them, just the characters who are trying to survive. Gruesome aren't I LOL?
