I've seen a few episodes and quite like it too, but have never watched it regularly.
Does anyone else here watch The Bridge? The first series was on a few years ago and The Bridge II is showing over here now, so we're gripped by that right now. It's a Scandinavian crime drama and is brilliant - the main characters are really interesting and the storylines are clever too.

We watched the original Stargate movie last night, with Kurt Russell and James Spader. Still far more of a Stargate fan than I ever was a Star Wars fan. Do miss the series, and Richard Dean Anderson's character of Col. O'Neil. Hi 3piggles, I rember ths film and thinking how gorgeous the Eqyptian prince was, that is if I have the right film - I think so. Hugs JO xx

Saw the latest animated film Mr Peabody and Sherman - I hadn't actually been too bothered to see it from the trailers but it was really good, lots of laughs.
Really looking forward to seeing The Book Thief later this month as I loved the book. But think I will give the remake of Robocop a miss!

I haven't seen Mr. Peabody and Sherman listed anywhere. Are they on TV or in the movies? Is this the same dog and boy from the old Bullwinkle cartoons?
We saw the promo for the latest Transformer movie, and both of us want to see it. I wasn't that impressed with Shia LeBouf, but the new one not only has my favorite, dinos, but an impressive cast. Age of Extinction, I think this one's called.

I watched the sapphires at the weekend. It was easy enjoyable viewing but just found out at the end that it was a true story. If I had known that at the beginning I would have viewed it differently, worth watching. Australian based film and sad bit re the aborigines and how they stole the children, but that doesn't come out till later, x

I haven't seen Mr. Peabody and Sherman listed anywhere. Are they on TV or in the movies? Is this the same dog and boy from the old Bullwinkle cartoons? You're right - I've heard of Rocky and Bullwinkle, but hadn't realised (until just googling it now) that these characters were from it. Maybe it'd be less enjoyable if you already had an idea of the characters in your head as I'm sure it's quite different. It just came out in the cinemas here this weekend, but for some reason you don't get it until next month which is odd as it's a Dreamworks production. I watched the sapphires at the weekend. It was easy enjoyable viewing but just found out at the end that it was a true story. I watched that a couple of months ago - enjoyable enough but think I ended up doing some sewing or something at the same time as I wasn't exactly riveted! I like Chris O'Whatsit, he's a good actor. We watched the Sherlock Holmes film this weekend (with Robert Downey Jr) - fella thought it was alright but I was bored stiff and ended up doing the crossword while I watched it, not my thing at all!

I love Robert Downey Jr., but I've found the Sherlock Holmes movies have long, boring parts. Is that Chris O'Donnell? He was Robin on the Batman movies. He plays G. Callen on NCIS:Los Angeles. Haven't seen Sapphires, but know the story. Very sad, and very much what was done to the indigenous people in too many places.

It was Chris O'Dowd in The Sapphires - he's an Irish actor, has done quite a bit of comedy work over here. Did anyone else see Family Tree - a comedy he was in recently on the BBC?

I agree with you 3piggles love, I wasnlt too keen on the Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Junior in. We have a series here about a modern day Sherlock which stars Dominic Cumberbatch, it is brlliant.

I've heard that's great from lots of people - we've never watched it but I don't think I've heard anything (endings-wise) that would spoil it so we'll have to give it a go!

I've seen earlier episodes of that show, and have recorded the three shows from the latest release. I don't know if we get all of the episodes you get, or not. Yes, I really like the new Sherlock Holmes. Taken it out of a very by gone era, and made it modern day.
I also realized the other night, when there was nothing on to watch and I found the movie Battleship, that I really love that movie. It's a feel good movie of beating the alien invaders from outer space by going analog. Just want to cheer in so many spots! It's hokey, but full of action and characters I could care about.

Ooh, I'm watching The Bridge, think I'm about 6 episodes in. Saga is hilarious!
I've also got quite into NCIS since Christmas - have watched loads of it, but then it always seems to be on!

Saga is brilliant, and I love the dynamic between her and Martin, especially when he tries to help her understand the complexities of human nature!
We saw a thriller called Prisoners (Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal) - enjoyed it, much better than expected.

We've been major fans of NCIS since the first episode. The LA spin off is good, but not as good as the original. The second spin off never took off, which I think is just as well. Law and Order did too many spin offs, and killed the best ones. Is Law and Order:UK still on? The Bridge was on against other things we were watching, so we never got started on it. I'll have to check for it, and see if it's available. Saga we don't get. Tried watching The Hobbit last night. After a weekend of horrendously bad news from around the world, I just couldn't take the endless violence. Going to have to be in the right mood to try that again. Hubby said he heard it was great, and the special effects I saw were great. I just couldn't manage it after the murder of the giraffe in Denmark, and all the other senseless violence. I may have to do a Dispicable Me immersion

I love Law and Order SVU and Coldcase. They are not making any more of the latter, isn't it just typical when you really like something? I also like Grimm and CSI Miami (I love David Caruso).

Just checking that you know Saga is one of the detectives in The Bridge - it's not a separate series? She's great - a brilliant brain and very no-nonsense, but her social skills aren't so good (most people think she has Aspergers). She and the guy she works with just have a lovely dynamic and he's always trying (not always successfully) to help her improve her interactions with people. The situation with the giraffe was bizarre. As other zoos had offered to rehome him (with the simple solution that if you don't want him to breed, just neuter him) it was an odd decision to go ahead despite all the negative publicity. It does just seem like they kept him for the cute baby factor to get visitors and then axed him when that expired - not the message a lot of zoos are working hard to spread as they shake off old ideas of zoos being bad places for animals. A lot of people are calling for a boycott of the zoo - I wonder if it will actually affect visitor numbers.

Let us know if you hear any updates. The zoos had offered to pay the Danish zoo for him too, so they stood to make a profit from keeping him alive. According to news reports, it's actually pretty common practise in international breeding programs, just unusual the amount of publicity that this case has attracted.
