Not warm enough for grazing here, yet. Once we get the garden hose hooked up, I csn blast off the grass to make it safe.

I have a great temp playpen and a carrier that fits all three pigs, and goes right onto the play pan. Super safe, if the two girls weren't trying to kill each other Logistics don't work for me to do them separately while always staying by the cage, so no grazing Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

My piggies out grazing in the garden today, third time this year......run could do with a revamp after winter but we'll get round to it. Hubby wanted to put the run in the field but the field has long grass and it will be very damp still, maybe next month if the rain is not too drastic xx

Can't wait to get my girls out on the lawn. We have just cut the lawn and I have heard it's poisonous when cut is this true?? Xx

The clippings are very bad for them as they start to ferment quite quickly so upset their stomachs. If your mower leaves them behind then you'd need to clear them off thoroughly before they graze again. I usually leave a patch for them when I mow anyway, so they have some decent grass - freshly mown grass looks so miserly for pigs!
Thanks for the website comments! The kids have started work on a few new things to add - we will have to get them finished off, but it's amazing how hectic relaxing school holidays can be!
We've been away for a few days visiting family so the pigs had a holiday too. Got them back this morning and they've had lots of cuddles and enjoyed a good old trot around on the lawn. Really want to get a good set up with a little hutch for shelter and a big run so they can be out for longer when the weather's nice.

It's great when you get back from being away and you get all the animals back

Ugh! I know a lot of people who give their pigs clippings. They live in apartments or condos with no private lawn, and figure this way the pig gets grass that's been washed.

Tahnks both, and aww that's sweet that Josh reminds you of Zippy, 3piggles. I love thinking of my old pigs. My kids (who are 7 and 8) were keen to make a website for the guinea pigs after hearing about my old website (Treen's Pigs - it lapsed when I had the kids!) and have been working hard to put together some information and games. They have plans for more stuff to add to it too. Anyway here is their creation Go-go guinea pigs! I'm sure even the most experienced owners will learn something from their cautionary stories about what not to do with your guinea pigs haha! They've used some of the old animations and graphics from my website - I had fun looking through all them all. They were mainly created by Alix and Merry, two very talented young ladies! Wow, what a great site for kids! I can't wait to show it to Sabrina; I'm sure she's going to love it!

I think it is great hun, I love how the short stories tell kiddies what not to do, if it is in a story form, I think most will take more notice.
Hugs

Happy 1st Birthday Josh and Cadders!!
They have been given cakes this morning (fashioned by the kids from cucumber slices, matchsticks of carrot/ celery and grass) and been given a ridiculous amount of hay in their cage so I think they're having a good day - they've conked out after all the excitement! I intended to take pictures of their cakes but we also have a human birthday in the house today so it was all a bit hectic before school this morning!
Coffee and walnut cake to finish now - and that's not for the pigs!

Thanks everyone - they enjoyed all the treats the kids bestowed on them - especially the comedy amounts of hay. I'll have to have our pigsitters give them that much when we're away as it'll definitely help compensate for the lack of entertainment without people around.
After initially planning to make them a new cage from wood (a year ago), I've now decided that it's probably more likely to happen if I just do a C&C one as I don't think we're ever going to get round to it. I've got the cubes already and have ordered the correx - at some point today I will figure out what size we can fit into the living room and how to set it out so I can crack on as soon as it arrives (hopefully this week).
I would like some kind of second level, but rather than a proper loft area I was thinking more of some little platforms they could jump on to (or into if I give them a roof which'll also stop me having to prevent them from jumping out) as they really like jumping on and off stuff and I think they're more likely to use that that something needing a full ramp. And it'll also make a nice hiding place underneath. Also Josh likes to make a quick escape from Cadders after he's driven him to distraction wiggling his bottom in his face so quick hop up places would be great! I'm not sure if I will make these platforms/ nooks by bending grids or some other way. I was thinking I could have a longer one along the back of the cage (so easy to clean under) and maybe a smaller one elsewhere. I might use something to prop them up underneath if I did that - a post of something.
I like the platform the girl has in the first cage in this video - plus I love her accent, where's she from?!
