I think introductions are a good idea. It appears that you have done everything right. I'm pulling for you. It is time for you to have some guinea pig success.

I am so sorry about George Thatcus heartbreaking I really hope he is holed uo someplace being obnoxious. All digits crossed for him to come back ♡♡♡ I would do the intros, too. Henry shouldn't be punished for George running off. If nothing else, having the cages where they can interact should help. It's easy to blame yourself and beat yourself up over George, but I've had pigs that could, and did get out of, or into any area. How well I blocked it didn't matter at all. My huge Morty Pigg fit himself through the slimmest spaces to get to the other side. Some pigs seem obsessed with getting to that other side, even if they don't really want to be there once they succeed. This was Georges choice. Can you put up flyers around the neighborhood, with his picture? Dang ringworm on top of everything else Don't let all this get you down. Would you want to work for people who can't talk to you or give you straight answers. You don't have to work, so when the right job comes along, you won't already have a job. Lots of hugs ♡♡♡

Oh gosh, I'm only just catching up here - I'm so sorry to hear about George, how upsetting. I guess it's been too long for you to be truly optimistic now, but I will keep everything crossed he's found a shady nook somewhere and finds his way back. It's definitely worth asking around the local houses incase anyone found him and took him in.
Hope the intros with the boys go smoothly.

Josh recently started to try to pull threads from my rug which is quite an unappealing habit. I clap when he does it to stop him (but am always around when he's free ranging so it's easy for me to be consistent - can't do that so easily if it's something in their cage!). As he did when he started doing it a few months ago and I employed the same tactics, he's caught on pretty quickly - now he goes to chew it and sort of freezes and looks around like he knows what's going to happen next! I only have to say his name in a questioning sort of voice and he moves on! Mine have got a paper bag full of shredded newspaper to keep their teeth busy today! Bean, I'm so glad to read this! It has put my mind at ease. I've been doing the clapping and sternly saying his name. (if you couldn't guess, mainly to Harry...specially when he tries to eat the grout in the slate area of the house or when he's tackling Weasley) I've been wondering if I'm approaching it correctly. Glad to see that I am. It is funny how Josh, like a child, knows when it is doing something naughty and watches you to see if you are there as their paw/hand/mouth reaches for something that they oughtn't.

So, before I even begin I want to apologize ahead of time because after today it might be a bit before I get back on here. With the new job starting tomorrow and a long weekend chore list it may be a little while. (Unless they have WiFi at work in my new posh teachers lounge!) Let's see, where shall I begin? Oh yesterday! Yesterday I moved Murphy close to Henry so that they could see/smell/hear one another. They seemed very happy to know there was another piggy around and both spent most of their time in the parts of their cage that put them closest to each other. Sidetrack...last week my son finally was able to get the pet rat that he has been wanting for awhile now. But poor Winston was in a cage that was way too small for a male rat. Today we went and got Winston his new cage, so I took the old one and did this with it before putting the boys in the big cage. (There were 2 boys hiding in the hay when I took this one can you find them?) I introduced the boys and it was practically an instant friendship! Whew! It was by far the easiest intro I have even been a part of! (I didn't intro them in the cage, these were taken a few hours later) They are both happily munching hay. Every once in awhile I hear a little scuffle, a rumble or a little chasing. They seem so happy together and it was so fast. I am hopeful that it will stay this way. I am not going to have any more piggy tragedies any time soon if I can help it! I just peeked around the laptop and caught Murphy grooming Henry AND Henry was allowing it! You can't see it right now but I am beaming! If I didn't have a laptop in my lap I would jump up and do a happy dance!(although it may look like a seizure)

As always, fantastic pictures. I found Henry on the left, but Murphy's location has me stumped.
I can't seem to remember or locate what job you got. What will you be doing in the school?
You will be missed. You have become a dear piggie friend!

I'm working in a local daycare as an Infant Teacher. It's the same thing I was doing in FL. Only difference is that I was the Lead Teacher in my own classroom in FL, here I'm a bottom barrel assistant in a room with 4 teachers over me...yikes! I'm sitting here drinking coffee watching the boys. They are doing so great together. Sharing food, sitting near one another. I'm going to miss them while I am at work today. My very capable daughtet will be keeping an eye on things today, but I don't anticipate any issues. Sent from my SCH-I435 using proboards

That is so wonderful I'm sure daughter can handle anything that might arise The worst that could happen with the job is that you totally disagree with how they do things, or you really don't like your bosses, you can quit and look for another job!

I am so happy with how these two are getting on. They now act as if they couldn't live without one another. Where one is the other is close by. I am very grateful for this since I am gone so long now. I have noticed that Henry has decided to start chewing the coro though. He has never done this in the past. Murphy doesn't do it thankfully. This weekend while I am out I have to find some stuff to keep his teeth busy!
Does anyone use puppy pads? I used them during the move, but I'm thinking about putting them under the towels. I'm going to be hard pressed to find the time to change fleece more than 2 times a week now. I usually change it every 3rd day. I just need something to cut down the smell.

I only change my fleece every week or so. I do spot cleaning every day, about 5 minutes of sweeping off the surface with a stiff bristle brush. I bought a small dust pan to fit in the cage. Every week I scoop out the clumped kitty litter, though I do that more often, if I have time. I found making the fleece pad with the quilted packing blanket sewn on the back makes the fleece heavy enough to vacuum with the hose on a regular vacuum. That goes even more quickly. I found puppy pads soaked quickly and got chewed a lot. Perhaps fleece clipped to the side. Just take it out, shake it out and clip it back in? It's great that the boys are getting along so. I think both just need a calm friend to spend time with

Ours have fleeces which they seem to love but the favourites are definately the cuddle cups. We need a couple more so that they present ones can be washed and piggies will not have to wait until they are dry. We clean outs about every 3 days.

Well I had a few extra pee pads so I put them on the side of the cage where they pee. I put the usual towels then fleece on top. I'm trying to cut down on the pee smell so I can go longer between fleece changes. (I'm always so paranoid that the cage smells.) I sweep poops twice every day it only takes a few minutes. I also change out all my hay areas every other day since they do most of their peeing in there.
The boys are still doing great. We bought a few chew toys over the weekend to keep Henrys teeth off the coro. It's helping a little bit. Murphy is such a character! I have noticed that he chatters his teeth at me every morning. He starts talking when I walk down the stairs every morning. Then I fix coffee and get the boys breakfast together. By the time I get their plate to the cage Murphy is waiting there chattering his teeth at me. He stops as soon as I hand him something!

Ooh, I amaze myself sometimes! I actually remembered to write down something I kept forgetting, and I have it!!! Anyway, in one of the threads I mentioned a flooring made by a Japanese company, and that it might be something you could use for easy cleaning for the boys. www.daisojapan.comJoint Drain Boards They are a rubbery/plasticky sheet with holes to let water pass through. Put them over kitty litter, the liquid should go through the holes, and the poos and hay should pretty much stay on top. Take them out, shake and wipe them, and replaced. I was going to try them, but since my cages are in the basement, it is always cool down here, and I think the fleece helps keep the pigs warm. I might order some to try in place of the screen, though.

Did I say before that in anticipation of my boys chewing the correx, I have covered the edges with report binder spines which come in all sorts of colours. Does the trick! Of course if Henry's just started doing it and you think it might be down to boredom then that needs to be sorted, but nothing wrong with protecting the correx while you figure out what floats his boat!
