Piggies are so hard to read sometimes so if concerned take him vets like bean mentioned. He just may be a little board? Have you got him out for a cuddle recently that might perk him up. :-)

Yes or all of the above. He is sick without hus friend as moral support. Baytril is a mega-strength, wide spectrum antibiotic that kills everything, good and bad. He needs a probiotic to replace the good gut bacteria the Baytril kills. His innards are being gutted by the Baytril. Petco sells Bene-bac, a probiotic for small furries, in the small furry section. Don't let them sell you a kitten or dog version. Good luck, and if he doesn't turn around with the probiotic, get him back to the vet.

Thanks for all the info. Henry is doing much better now. I did some reading and decided I needed to completely rearrange his cage. Once I did that he began to perk up. He's eating like a champ, taking his meds like a good boy, and has begun wheeking again!

Just a little update. Henry is beginning to loose weight. His last dose of Baytril is this morning, but he still has crusty boogers from time to time. Looking forward to Saturday's aapt. I think the combination of losing Charlie and being sick is taking a toll on him. He is still eating hay and lettuce, but that's it. We may have to find him a friend before the big move that's quickly approaching.

I'm really sorry to hear Henry's still not 100%. If he still has symptoms and is now losing weight but the antibiotics have run out, I'd definitely give your vet a call today rather than leaving it until Saturday. It might be that he needs a longer course or even a different antibiotic.
I'm sure losing his buddy will have had some effect but you definitely need to get him better (and also clear for a few weeks) before thinking of introducing a friend, so I wouldn't worry about that for now, just concentrate on getting your little guy well again. Good luck, keep us posted with how Henry is doing. xx

He just finished his meds this morning. I am going to call the vet to see if I can get him in sooner than Saturday. I do think that some of his issues are from being alone, but I'm sure the meds don't help. He eats best when someone is holding him, so that's what we do.

I agree with Bean about getting him back to the vet early. If he's still crusty, he needs to be seen and heard by the vet. I do think it's all piling up on him, but it's best to be sure.

Well I called the vet. Unfortunately the piggy vet is out until Saturday, which is the day of our appointment anyway. Is there anything I can do for him in the meantime ? I do think the poor baby just has had a rough time. He is eating a few pellets again, so that's good. I will take whatever positives I can get!

Try grinding some pellets and mixing it with vitamin fortified baby food or juice. If he'll eat it off a spoon, you can make it thicker. Otherwise thin it down to go through a syringe. That gives him attention and the nutrients he needs.
