I decided to start a thread to get me thru the move so that I have somewhere to rant about it.
Today marks 30 days until we all pile into the truck and head west. Today we have the inspection on the house. The "buyer" has the right to check the structure and general state of the house before purchase. So, that's today. This is a big step to getting this house sold!
My emotions are a little high as things are coming to an end here. I have 12 days left of work.
This move has been lurking around in the background since August 2013 like those leftovers you forgot about in the back of he refrigerator. I hate saying goodbye, but will be glad when it's over.

Oooh it's getting closer, big changes coming up! Hope the inspection has gone smoothly today? Sounds like the sale should go through pretty quickly once that part of the procedure is over and you must feel so much lighter having accomplished that before you leave town.
I'm not surprised emotions are running high - I was stressed enough moving 5 minutes up the road where work/ school/ friends etc all stayed the same!

We had that clause in our last sale. What a pain! I hope everything goes without a problem I keep telling myself I should start cleaning those things out, but I never do. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Inspection is over. They did find a small leak in the roof, but they believe it was from the 14+ inches of rain we got Tuesday night. Now the buyer will decide if they want us to pay a roofer to come look at and possibly fix the spot.
Once that is finished then comes the appraiser to make sure the home is worth what the buyer agreed to pay. Then we will be done.
Today is the Last day that I get to be in my classroom at work. So that will not be fun. For some reason my boss thinks it's a good idea for me to spend my Last two weeks floating around.
This weekend we begin seriously searching for a rental home in CA.

Aw, have a good day, and I hope the buyers don't cause too much trouble.

The leak doesn't sound like too much of a problem either way - hope it's all sorted out and the appraisal can get ticked off too.
I bet it'll be strange doing something different at work for your last two weeks - ah well, I bet if it's something you don't enjoy as much, it'll make it easier to say goodbye!
Good luck with the househunting, bet it's trickier when you're not there to go and have a snoop at places, but hopefully having lived in that area before, you have a better idea of what you want.

Still waiting to hear about what the buyer has to say about the leak. I hate waiting!
Found a few nice pet friendly rentals. Just waiting for the managers to return our calls.

Oh that's great you have a few potential options to look into - a promising start! Hope you find out about the leak soon too.
Will the kids be starting at a new school as soon as you get there?

Trying to find rentals online is very stressful. We want to leave here with a forwarding address, but that would require people to return our phone calls! I don't get it. If you are trying to rent the property why wouldn't you return a phone call? If the property is rented, pull it off the internet! UGH!
he schools here run end of August or beginning of September to the end of May or beginning of June. The kids last day here is May 30th and the schools in CA resume the end of August I believe. So the kids and I will have the whole summer off to explore and play before they go to school and I hunt for a job.

That sounds great. I think kids need a bit more adjustment time. Adults usually move for jobs, so they have purpose.
It is weird thst they don't call back, though they may want you there in person before they'll talk to you. Maybe they've had too many no shows from advanced rentals. It also gives you a chance to see the place and neighborhood, plus hear the noise, check traffic, etc. Sort of like the holiday rentals that didn't live up to the pictures or advertisement. Nice to know what it's really like.

It is nice to see a home in person. It will also be nice if we can leave here knowing we have a home to go to.

Oh that works well with the kids - unless they wanted to start mixing right away, but I'm sure there are plenty of other ways for them to meet new friends.
Hope you get some call backs soon Faafaa - it's frustrating when people don't get off their bums and do you the courtesy of doing their bit. You sound like a very efficient person so it must be frustrating you're having to spend a fair bit of time waiting for other people to let you know about stuff when you're raring to get everything organised!

How's it all going Faafaa? Hope work hasn't been too bad with your floating around and that you've got somewhere closer to securing a rental.

I agree with you Bean love, nothing annoys me more than someone not doing what they say they are going to do. Apart from being a nuisance when you need to get on with something, it is damned bad manners!!!
Good luck FaaFasa love, thanks for keep us updated.

Hi everyone! I have been too busy to keep up with much here. Things are moving along nicely with all the house inspections on this end. Just waiting on the buyer to tell us what she wants to do about a small roof leak. We are waiting to hear back about a house in CA too. We just need the owner to approve our pets.

Glad it's all progressing nicely - it must all be getting more hectic as the big day draws closer! Fingers crossed for your pets being approved.

Well I don't really know what's going on now. The Property Manager in CA said that as long as everything came thru before the house had it's first showing today (Saturday) that we could have it. I was under the impression that I was going to hear something by close of business yesterday (Friday). I haven't heard anything. Currently, this is the ONLY property that comes close to meeting our needs that's in our price range. It's a little too small, but we can make due. If this house falls thru I don't know what's going to happen.

Sometimes it's for the best. Any place full if hassles would probably continue that way. If thus landlord can't even bother to update you, she might not be great at responding to problems you need fixed, either. Give her a call. Ask for a status update. If you don't feel comfortable with her response, keep looking. Another house will become available. Don't worry Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
