Long overdue update... Harry & Weasley are doing well. Weasley still has congestion but he hasn't gotten really bad in a long time. Harry is still a stinkerpot but he and Weasley get along most of the time. Due to the hectic holiday season I decided to try something to help reduce the amount of time that needed to keep their cage clean. I bought Kaytee Soft Granular Bedding for the first floor of Hogwarts. I'm in love. Okay, they make a mess when they run and pieces go flying out of the cage, but the smell is pretty much gone. All I have to do is stir it up and smell is gone. I've gone 5 weeks without changing the first floor. After cleaning it, I found no problems with the boys nor hiding in the cage. I'm not sure if I will keep using it after the holidays are over, but this is definitely my Go To when life gets busy. I'm experimenting with different ways of using it. I'm trying less this time. I'm thinking of also of trying it under fleece to control the flying pieces and the poop. I hesitate with this last idea because their running around keeps it pretty well mixed which reduces the smell. I decorated their cage with a fun sign. Christmas cards are starting to arrive. My sister-in-law even addressed the card to the boys. My family has fully accepted the boys as part of the family. Life is crazy busy now and I don't know how I'm going to get everything done. Maybe after the new year I'll be back more regularly. Miss you all!

Ha! Like the sign! I have a sticker on my pet carrier saying 'Beware of the killer guinea pig'. It hasn't scared anyone off them yet...
I've gone lazy with bedding too - I'm using a recycled paper one that isn't the cheapest but it's great at containing the odour and it means I don't have to do anything at all for nearly a week rather than having to sweep poos daily and sweep and wash the fleece every few days. 5 weeks is pretty amazing though - I need to get some of it shipped over!
Glad the boys are getting on reasonably well, and that Weasley hasn't been poorly again. I've got my son off school poorly and he's been listening to the Harry Potter books (read by Stephen Fry) while he rests - I've heard Harry and Weasley said multiple times while writing this post!

Cute sign! I also have the recycled paper one that I use at the bottom of their hay bins. The reason why I didn't go with that for the first floor during my lazy days is because when it gets wet it gets heavy and can stick to the bottom of the bin. The Kaytee bag I'm using stays loose, which is great. That brought a smile to my face. I hope your son is feeling better now, but that is so cool getting to listen to Harry Potter. I guess with the names I named the boys, I and/or my boys will be thought of whenever they come across those names.
