They certainly do get excited by a little reorganisation, even if it means they fling everything round to their own pleasing afterwards!
Josh is very amused at the moment as the box I put in their cage (to chew/ hide in/ stand on) is a bit higher than usual, so not only does it make fun jumping, but if he stands up on it, he can reach bits of hay from the box on top of the cage! The cage has an opening in the lid and I am very careful to keep it shut now after I caught him poking his head out of the top and looking rounds to see what else he might be able to pull in! I don't think he has the strength to pull his whole body up but if he threw a jump in, I reckon he could make it, so not taking any chances!
We foster rabbits and I've had some similar sounding fun trying to encourage my current pair to use a litter tray - they're not having any of it and even if I put it where they're doing all their business, they'll either pull the whole thing away and upturn it, wee over the edge of it (if they can't move it) or just go somewhere else - it's quite funny! I've done all the little things that are supposed to help train them (and rabbits are generally easier than pigs) but they have their own ideas! I have been put in my place.

I'm not sure litter training is even realistic for some animals. Cats choose to have a specific bathroom place. Dogs will go wherever they are at the time,.but can be trained to only go outside. Still, anywhere outside, not specific places. We can't change an animals nature. We can only only counter it enough to make our clean up easier. It takes me about 3 minutes per condo for daily cleaning. I sweep out all the poos and used hay, refill whatever needs refilling, and put the houses and tunnels back in. The weekly bedding change takes about 5 minutes per condo, as I clean all the houses, bowls and tunnels, and replace the used litter in the kitchen area. I can't complain, and having poos visible is how I check on their health. Now that I have a very absorbent layer under the fleece, I don't have odor problems, which makes a huge difference. I gave up on litter training. Way to frustrating Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

silamb you sound much like me! I hate when they move things all around the cage after I get it perfect! OK litter boxes, this is what I did. It works, most of the time. As you know, I use a hay rack and keep hay in two corner litter boxes. When I added the litter boxes I would pick up poops and put them into the litter boxes. After holding the boys I put them into the litter boxes when putting them back in their cage. They poop everywhere, but most of the pee is in the litter boxes. It's not perfect, but it's better. I change the hay every one to two days and it really helps cut down on the smell and washing the fleece. IDK if it will work with you, but I just thought I would share. On the topic of hay. When living in FL I bought this. www.amazon.com/Standlee-Premium-Western-Forage-Timothy/dp/B00A7QG8IU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403531855&sr=8-1&keywords=standlee+timothy+hayNow I have bought two boxes this way. The first box was green and fresh with nice long strands. The second box is BAD. But that could be my fault. The hay is soft and it smells great. The strands are more brown than green and they are short, so they fall thru the hay rack. I carried this box unopened from FL to CA. So not only was it shipped from who knows where I drug it across the country thru the desert heat unopened in my car. So that may have made it go brown. So, IDK if you want to go that route or not.

Hogwarts has been freshly cleaned and redone. Let's see how long this lasts... 1st Floor COVERING - dog wee pad, pine bedding around perimeter, newspaper, fleece (change from last incarnation was fleece instead of towels) FOOD - removed water bottle and veg dish...(made 2nd floor the kitchen) HIDIES - The igloo has been on the first floor before, but I had moved it to the 2nd floor. It is now back down on the 1st floor. I read on the cavy toys and play site someone had posted that they like lunch paper bags. They love this hidey. They usually choose to hide there first and the igloo 2nd. I opened the bottom of the bag so that it has a 2nd entrance. OTHER - I have a fleece bed in the corner (front left...can't see much due to the coroplast wall.) The skewer chew hanging on front right. toilet paper roll. Chew willow stick. two plastic cat toys that have bells in them. 2nd Floor COVERING - on right side is a dog wee pad and the Fresh News bedding. on left side newspaper FOOD - hay dish (formerly known as the litter pan ), water bottle, kibble dish. In reading everyone's advice, I see that most of the peeing occurs while eating. So I've moved all eating related items to this floor and created an official kitchen. Now I need to train the piggies that they get their treats up here. Will be interesting, as they run to the same spot on the 1st floor and wheek when then are begging for food or attention. I'll have to train hubby to not feed them on the first floor anymore too. I wonder who will learn first. hehehe HIDEY - I removed the formal hidies that I had up here to save space. Instead I pinned a fleece blanket over the right side to give them a bit of a hidey feel. It is actually funny to watch them on this floor. I saw Harry, after eating hay, walking slowly towards the left. As soon as he was no longer under the blanket, he ran to get to the ramp to go downstairs. Made me chuckle. Attachments:

I just realized that I never showed a picture of the quidditch playpen. Sometimes there are lots of things in it and sometimes when I'm encouraging lots of running around (like in this picture), there are only the basics. We converted a dog pool for this pen. It gives them lots of space and variety. They spend 1/4 to 1/2 of the 24 hour day in it. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk Attachments:

It is a dog swimming pool I meant the tall part! Do you mean the white thing to the right? What is the tall part that you are referring to? (Sorry for the late response)

Life at our house has been crazy but good. One thing not so good is that Harry has decided that after cooling down to a few weeks of only random half-hearted attempts of trying to mount Weasley, he is back trying to mount poor Weasley. I had to end up separating them for a few hours. They kept making noises like they were looking for each other, but whenever I put them back together, Harry would attack again. In past, I would let Weasley "fight" his own battles, but this time it appeared by the noises he was mmaking that he needed help. Plus he was doing everything he could to stay away from Harry.
They are back together again, and Harry is back to his periodic, half-hearted attempts and Weasley is able to hold his own against them. They really are funny creatures. One second Harry is trying to mount Weasley, Weasley defends himself, Harry walks away, and then Weasley goes looking for Harry to be with him.
Hubby and I are very much happy with our choice to get guinea pigs.
Remember my drive all over for the best hay and food prices...well, who knew but the best prices turned out to be at my neighborhood Wal-Mart...I discovered that yesterday when I was curious what they had in their pet department.
WE HAD A SCARE...so Harry, naughty boy that he is was put into a makeshift pen in my living room that I had used the night before. Before using it, I confirmed the part that I thought would be the only place that needed to be checked to make sure that it didn't get dislodged since I last used it...well, I should have checked the other end because that is where it got dislodged. I bet you can figure where this story was heading. Harry got loose. I didn't notice it until 30 minutes later when I was headed to put Weasley in it. PANIC set it. I called his name (and I know he knows his name, but he has selective hearing) and nothing. I make the noise I make when I'm giving veggies, crackle the hay bag and open the fridge door (all things which normally brings about wheeking) and nothing. Then I start to wonder if he got to another part of the house, and I try all of those things plus being quiet and nothing. Then I decided to be real quiet for 90 minutes before going through all these motions again and nonthing. So hubby and I both thought it would be worth a try to bring out Weasley to the living room in a small pen. I did this and went to the kitchen (next to living room) and watched through the living room door. Not 10 minutes later I start hearing Harry's voice, but I stay quiet as I still can't see him. Then next thinig I know, there he goes walking riight in front off the living/kitchen door headed to Weasley. Naughty, naughty boy. Moral of the story: check all pens thoroughly for ways out and use your other pig as bate to catch the hiding piggy.
