I don't know if it's coincidence but since we switched to fleece, Cadders hasn't had any lumps of poo stuck inside his bum pouch at all. He's had hairs gathering in there so has still needed a bit of a once over, but not like before.
We used recycled paper beddding before and the only think I can think of is that he'd wipe his bum on that (they both scentmark A LOT!) and it'd make it a bit too dry inside and give the poo a chance to attach itself to the side?!

Fleece ended my boar cleaning problems. Worth it just for that

Well, no bottom problems but we've had willy problems. Found poor Josh with parts of his manhood sticking out and swollen yesterday - you could see the spikes (which I still think is a strange piece of anatomy!). Think some boar glue had dried and prevented things retracting as they should, so bathed his bum end and got him all clean and then popped a bit of coconut oil on to help things return to position. Also checked he was still pooing and weeing as normal which he was - if he hadn't been it would have had to be a trip to the emergency vet. Anyway it seemed to sort itself out quite quickly after that but will keep a close eye this week.

Haven't had that problem, wow! Poor Josh. Glad he csn still use it. Not being able to pee can have a toxic effect pretty quickly.
Getting time for piggy baths, which is a good indicator the thr fleece needs to be washed. Should have done it Friday, but wasn't up to it. Today, definitely.

Hope that if anything needs doing, it goes more smoothly than last tine!
Cadders still hasn't needed any intervention since we moved to the fleece - it's really sorted him out. And Josh hasn't had any recurrence of his willy problem - the kids were especially fascinated with that and I felt bad enough having to sort him out anyway, but doing it with an audience was even less fun!

I took George and Arthur to the vet for a check-up and asked about boar cleaning. He said they were just fine and didn't need any attention.

It is something to check on regularly, but not always something you have to do. I'm not sure soaking their undercarriage doesn't do the job. I plunk Morty in about a half inch of water in the kitchen sink, to do his nails. Since I let them soak a bit, he's probably in the water for 5 to 10 minutes. I haven't had to do any boar cleanings.

How often do you cut their nails?

I'm not sure - probably only every few months. It's something I look over without really thinking about it when I have the pigs out, but they haven't needed doing too often so far. Mind you, I think it's something that doesn't seem to need doing often when they're little, maybe I'll have to start providing more regular manicures now they're biggies. I did just buy a pair of these clippers, which I was told were essential for rabbit claws (which are much thicker and stronger). I used to use human clippers but these are so much better - they don't squeeze the claw as they cut it, and it just looks like it suits the job much better than the human clippers. I haven't needed to cut the rabbit's claws yet - I think Jo said she'd pop over and do it for me when they needed doing?!

I have those from when we had cats, but haven't managed to get them to work with the pigs. Morty has a couple of curly fingernails that are really hard to clip without getting the fingers next to them.
