Another one when I got home today! Yea there must be an opening and a nest somewhere. There's some boards horizontally laid across the rafters, like for storage I guess, but I can't see above that. Need a ladder for that. But I bet there's a nest above that. I can't figure out why my garage would be tempting for their nest. No flowers, or water...I need to get one of those butterfly nets I had as a kid, so I can more easily catch them to put them outside!

We seem a bit short of bumblers this year or maybe I am looking at the wrong time. I am so glad many of my friends on here love them also. I can't say I am fond of wasps, but I wouldn't hurt one.

We've had quite a few, but I can't tell if they are drinking from my water dishes, or getting nectar from the plants. I planted geraniums and petunias to feed the bees, hummingbirds and butterflies, so I'm hoping to give them a fighting chance. We also haven't had the horrible heat we can get in summer, so they are getting a bit of a temperature break. Also had some really cold nights, probably too cold for them, so I hope they are finding places to stay warm.

Cookie72 the warmth of the heat rising in the evening is probably what drew them. I don't know about the weather where you are but ita been so up and down around here. I would guess they would find I high ceiling to nest in where they can trap some heat at night. Our garage is home to some squirrels for that reason. The heat of the day gets trapped above the rafters and at night when the temp drops its likely easier to keep heat tucked up there. We just had one give birth to 2-3 little fuzzy bums. I can hear them moving around more each day. I'm sure ill see them out in the yard soon. Last year she only had one with her.

Ah Bootygurl, that makes sense, and I never thought of that. Temps have been up and down here still, around 70 or above most days now, but some nights still dip down into the mid 30's. Should be staying in the 40's at night this week. Yea the garage is on the south side of my house too, so gets all the sun exposure and does get real warm during the day. Well, at least there isn't a big wasp nest, and the bumblers don't bother me. Maybe when it gets a little warmer and I get some flowers planted, they will spend more time out there.
Baby squirrels...how cute!!! Piggles, it sounds like your yard is becoming a haven for the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds!

I hope so, cookie72. I do see a lot of them around. I just wish I could see one get a drink, so I knew I had the right set up for them.
