It seems he'll go for peppers, as long as it's not every day- I put one in his cage this morning, and it was gone today. I guess I'll vary the routine a little. Every now and then I put a cherry tomato in his cage, but no go- he goes as far as taking an experimental bite and immediately recoils. I figure he's getting vitamin C through the drops I put on his lettuce, so it's no big deal.

I try to vary their treats as much as possible, yet stay within a group I know they like. They do get in moods, though, and it can be just one pig, not all pigs, who just decides to want something specific. Belgian Endive is one of their major favorites. It's a bit pricey, so I give them a leaf each at night, as a bedtime snack. Getting it any other time of day is a really big deal, because they don't get it very often. Mine like bell peppers, cilantro, parsley, Romaine lettuce, fennel, radishes, carrots, cucumber, celery and a lot of other things. I usually prepare food for us, and give them some of the fresh veggies I'm using. They get a variety, and don't get bored as easily. If I give them something they really like, though, they want as much as they can get, and have a wheekfest trying to get our attention to give them more

I haven't tried mine with radishes probably because we don't buy them, but it would certainly be a first for them. The piggies love their bell peppers but Holly bunny isn't so keen. They all love their salad in the morning and it is wonderful watching them. I am always trying to think of new things to give them but Paul does the shopping so it isn't as if I can mooch around and find something. I have to think of a product and ask Paul to get it. I did try them with pak choi a little while ago and it was a no-no.

Mine finally decided they like bok (pak) choi, so that's great. I have quite a lot of it They love parsley, cilantro, romaine lettuce, carrots, carrot tops, radishes, radish tops, celery and with leaves, bell peppers, fennel, endive, kale, and a whole lot of others. We have to be careful with the dark green leafy veggies, as they are very high in calcium. I'm giving one baby bok choi each per day, so they don't get too much. Fennel, radish and some others are great for soothing upset innards, which is why I gave the pigs fennel daily. I don't think I've seen any bloat since I started feeding fennel. I do find they go through favorites, so those change regularly. Too much of anything tends to make them go off it quickly, so I try to do a variety of veggies each day.

They are like us love, they get bored if given something too often. I really must try ours with radishes. They like carrots occasionally but always carrot tops. You never see anything disappear like them LOL!! I note what you say about fennel, that is worth a try too.

They often don't accept new foods the first time you try it with them. Like mine totally ignoring the bok choi, then snarfing it down next time I gave it to them. Try it again later. They may have changed their minds

Thanks Piggles love I will. We don't particularly like them so it will be a waste if they don't like them. I will try again tomorrow.

Are they expensive, Jo? Radishes are really inexpensive around here, so trying them doesn't cost much. I know costs vary a lot, and I don't even try expensive veggies we don't eat. I've found the pigs are happier with a lot of little treats, and probably the attention that goes with us giving them all the little treats, so we share what we're eating.

No they are not expensive here Piggles love, one of the few things that aren't. I still have them and will try them again in a couple of days. When we have fresh veg we do the same, it is always shared with our little ones. They adore cauliflour and broccoli.

A few weeks ago our pigs turned their noses up at strawberries. Not seeing any interest, I then chopped them up and put in their food bowl. They eventually were eaten. Yesterday I hand-fed them two strawberries. They were wolfed down in seconds

I sometimes think they have an idea of what they're going to get, and when that's not what they get, their reaction is "what's this? " Once they get what they wanted, they're often more open to trying new things. If they like the new things, they have another favorite

That s true Piggles love, because it isn't what they think they are getting in their heads, they automatically turn it down irrespective of whether they like it or not. Mine turn their nose up at strawberries but I will still give them a few this year. They also like nice ripe peach or nectarine when they are in season.

Mine like strawberries sometimes, and not other times. Typical piggies

Haha, mine turned their nose up at raspberries too, talk about spoilt piggies. I told them that some little piggies who are not as well off as they, would love them LOL!!

I don't think I mentioned this, but whenever it's feeding time Oscar is always ready, while Theodore sometimes has his pigloo rotated away towards the cage wall where he will not be disturbed.
The funny part is when I begin putting food in Theodore's cage- his cage spins around and he comes crashing out of the pigloo in a frenzy, hoping he won't miss out on the action!
One of these days I'm going to catch that on video (I hope.)

I would love to see that, Baz Zippy used to stick his nose out of the pigloo door, mouth open. I expected him to motion to his mouth like "put it here "
