Usually pigs face the back wall when they are really sick and possibly dying, but then it's accompanied by puffing up, and lying down, not appearing to be paying attention to something no one else can see. Maybe he's psychic As far as I can tell, he seems to be okay, other than occasionally facing the corner. He's eating everything I give him, and his energy levels have remained constant- which are fairly high. He can give off bursts of speed to get to his pigloo whenever he needs to, and I see him gnawing at a wicker ball he's got in his cage. (He's still ignoring his Snak Shak log, though.) Jo, it's off topic, but I didn't care too much for Blair Witch and I wouldn't recommend it.

Just watching the promos for the Blair Witch Project turned me off to watching it. I can't follow all the jumpy camera action. It's hard for me to even follow sports action, when the camera is still. There was one history show where the camera must have been a GoPro, as it bounced around as much as the people did. Gave me motion sickness. I know what the BWP was about, and didn't figure it was worth getting nauseas for. I've had the same Snak Shak for over a decade. Some pigs loved it. Some totally ignored it. I think it takes some time to get the newness off it, so the longer it sits in a cage, getting all the cage smells on it, the better it gets

Merley used to have a nibble at his but he wasn't over enthused. Hopefully my new piggies will when I get them.

It seems Murphy has developed a taste for lettuce, now. I always give him his carrot first because I can feed him right through the cage bars while I open Oscar's cage to deliver his beloved lettuce- but now I can see he's dropped the carrot and is now looking at me expectantly for something else. I give him the rest of his veggies while Oscar's digging in, and he goes right for the lettuce. How tastes change.

Hubby gets a chuckle out of that, especially the look they give that seems to say "Really???" Mine seem to go through food preferences fairly quickly. Since mine are together, they share whatever they get. Your's are all in different cages, so they may wonder if the other ones are getting something they aren't getting. I think they forget they were offered the same things, and decided against them

Apparently Murphy is a secret popcorner- he does it when he thinks no one is watching! I gave him a pepper (one of his favorites) and after he had finished eating, I saw him popcorning around his cage! I mentioned this to Vicki, and she said she caught him doing it a day or two earlier when she was with a friend. I guess it's kinda nice to know that his grumpiness is a facade of sorts.

We do animals a great disservice when we think they are totally straight forward. They are not. They have personalities, and they use those personalities. Take them out of the wild, where they have to constantly fight to survive, and their personalities come out really strongly

Gave the guys a bath (didn't have time for a buddy bath, just wanted to get them clean when I drop them off at my brother's place) and as usual, Oscar found the whole ordeal totally unacceptable- he kept leaping out of the little tub before Vicki could finish up with him, suds and all! Eventually he settled down just enough and we got him back to his freshly-cleaned cage. Murphy, surprisingly, handled it much like Deo and Theo before him- he stood there quite placidly, and not once did he struggle. We got him nice and silky, and off he went back to his cage!

Lol! I remember first time I put Zippy in the tub. He stuck a toe in the water, ran up my arm and hid under my hair on the back of neck Dallas was in the water just ho humming along, no bother. Not Zippy, nosiree! Most pigs don't need baths with soap, especially if they don't go outside where they're likely to encounter droppings from other animals. They can stand a refresher in the water once in a while, though. I used to put pavers in the bathtub, and fill the tub with just enough warm water to cover the pavers. That way they were getting their undercarriages rinsed, even if they didn't swim around. Glad they are all clean for their vacation

Murphy got another quick bath tonight, as we noticed his belly looked a bit yellow from possible urine stains. It was cage-cleaning day anyway, so I took care of that while Vicki gave him a quick scrub on the tummy. He looked absolutely perplexed the whole time, but handled it very well. He didn't whine either, so hopefully we saved him from possible urine scalding.

Mine never do!
Some pigs kind of create a nest in their bedding, leaving nothing underneath them, so if they don't move to wee they can get it stuck in their fur as there's nothing else to absorb it. I've seen it more in older pigs who don't move around as much.
I had a grim job last night, Josh's willy had got a bit scuzzy again (it happened before and his penis wouldn't retract properly, so got quite sore from being in contact with the ground). Caught it early this time, but a manky job nonetheless!

Ugh to poor Josh and his problem! Not one I've ever had with a boar, I'm happy to say. Urine scald doesn't just stain the hair, it causes hair loss and very raw skin. Sounds as if Murphy is, as Bean said, just lying in the urine for too long. Try putting something under him, and if it's getting on his but, try rolling some thin towels that will make a sausage around the inside of his house. I found that was a major problem with some of my pigs. They peed in their houses, and the urine splattered off the sides of the house and back onto the pig. Lots of butt dunks, until I started making the towel sausages, which absorbed the urine. Murphy sounds like a pretty affable guy
