I tooo love quaint places, we have many of them here in Cornwall. I agree, that would be a lot for a little kiddie to take in.

One nice thing about the place is that you can purchase a ticket to each individual section or all three, but if you don't finish the third section, for example, your ticket is good for a YEAR if you can come back within 365 days and complete the tour! Naturally, that's easy enough if you only live about 5 hours away like I do.

More attractions over here are doing tickets where you can return for free within the year. Like you say, it doesn't work out so well when you live hours away, but we have a great local museum we went to about 10 times one year - certainly got our money's worth! (They have a great cafe with amazing cakes too, so we'd spend what we saved on the entry price in there!)

I love quaint tea shops Bean hunny, when you walk in all the lovely cakes are displayed LOL!! It is not good here in Cornwall because the admission prices to anywhere are through the roof. I am sorry if I have mentioned it before but they really are ridiculous and I feel so sorry for families. That is good that they do that Bgoof love, I haven't heard of anything like that being offered here.

I think our last recession/depression hit museums and parks really hard, so they had to find ways to make it easier for families to visit, or many would have closed. Only Disney seems to have survived to a point where they can constantly increase prices!

There are places where you can buy season tickets, I am with you there Bazookagoof hunny, Like Porfell Animal Land owned by one of my friends. It is the more expensive ones which, if they do sell season tickets, I can imagine those being very expensive too. I wish that were the case here piggles love, The Eden Project, which you may have heard of for instance is £25 a ticket, ridiculous!!

As promised, the ghost town of Cisco!

So Cisco was a railroad watering stop for trains and people. The trains must have stopped running on that line, so everyone moved away. The wild buns seem quite happy to have the place to themselves

It was given a zip code, and zip codes started in 1963, to it hasn't been a ghost town all that long. That could account for the people who are still there, as it's only been abandoned since the late 60s, early 70s.

Thanks Piggles hunny, I would love to visit one which really did date back to the 1800's.

Hugs Jo xx I tried to find info on whether or not people are still living there and didn't unearth any conclusive evidence. One house does have a satellite dish, so I think there might be one or two people still in residence. One blog mentioned that the post office stopped being used in 2001, so maybe some landowners only visit every once in a while.

The music selection certainly creates an eerie feel to the abandonment!

Thanks, everyone! The music is the main theme from a little-known movie called Dust Devil. It's a bizarre supernatural movie, taking place in South Africa. Great haunting score, which is why I thought it fit in well. Here's something lighter in tone! This was back in 2009, during our trip to Wyoming and South Dakota. The place is called 1880 Town, and it was supposed to be a location for a western movie that ended up never getting filmed. The owners of the location decided to use the place as a tourist stop, eventually adding more buildings and props to make the town more real. Some of the things seen in the video are from movies that DID get filmed; the wagons are from the Kevin Costner movie Dances With Wolves, for example. Although there are a few employees manning the ice cream parlor and the entrance, there is no one else around town, apart from fellow tourists, so we had the place mostly to ourselves. (I have seen other "Wild West" theme parks that feature actors walking around in costume engaging in mock gunfights, but this is not one of those places. This is a very quiet place in South Dakota.)

Thanks Bazookagoof hunny this video is brilliant. I loved it where they showed you how people ate and how it was cooked. Oh, I love ice cream parlours, we don't have many of them here.

That looks like fun - glad they were able to use the set for something, even if they didn't make the film. Great photo of you running down the tracks away from the train!
