A little bit concerned as I can now only see one baby. I am going to have to email the lady I bought them from and ask her if they are likely to have eaten them all, I hope not because that means that they are not happy in their environment and it is perfect. Will keep you posted, thank you for your continued interest ladies, it is much appreciated.

Oh dear, I hope everything is okay, Jo. Let us know what the lady says, hopefully she can reassure you that it's not any problem with your care if numbers have been reduced somehow.

A bit of a catastrophe I'm afraid Bean love, I think they may have escaped and so does the lady I bought them from. I stupidly thought they would just stay with mum but they are in one of the common plastic vivariums you see around which of course, has lots of holes in the top and sides. We will just have to keep a look out for them but I am worried because they have no access to food or water. Paul says they are a very hardy little animal which is true and will be more than OK.
I will keep posted and thank you so much for your kind reply.

Sorry to hear they may have gotten themselves in a bit of a pickle They have survived for 100s of millions of years, so chances are they will find what they need to stay alive. Just be prepared for them to reappear when you least expect it!

I'm sorry Jo. I hope they find their way back, whether now or when they've grown bigger...
When I was a kid, our stick insects had babies without us realising - the first we knew was finding these miniature stick insects all around the house, in every corner and wall. Most of them seemed to stay out in plain sight, which can't work out well for them in the wild?! It was probably only that experience which made me be on the ball when we had some a few years ago - I put a length of netting under the lid.
Like Paul said, they've hardy animals and can survive really grim conditions, so I'm sure some of them will surprise you. Fingers crossed. x

Ha ha piggles hunny, that is a great way of putting it LOL!! All is not lost however, mum Rosie has moved them to another part of the viv and also there are some under the choller wood. I saw two escapees today and managed to put them back. That is what I am going to too Bean love as the lady I had them from says get some netting to put over the viv before you put the lid on. I have had stick insects Bean hunny and they are very good at having babies too, in fact I found one on a bush outside our house a couple of years ago. LOL. They are really cute.
Yes, I will have to find some netting from somewhere which isn't easy in Liskeard LOL!! Thank you darlings for your continued interest.

I'm glad you found a few.
Any fabric you have that is pretty light (so breathable) would probably do the job in the meantime - maybe a thin bed sheet or teatowels? You can keep a close eye on them to make sure they're doing okay.

Great that you're finding the babies you thought had escaped I hope you find a good netting to discourage them from moving out

Thank you so much ladies, I did find some pink netting so I am using that to cover their home before the lid goes on. Seen several babies today and have just seen the teenager eating. Cannot name him yet because I cannot tell if he is a he or a she at the moment.

How about a unisex name, like Spanky or Hissy? You get the idea Glad you found some good netting

Ha ha ha ha ha ah, Spanky, I love it Piggles hun, what a kinky name for a roachie? You are right though, I am thinking of unisex names so I can give the poor little love a name instead of just calling him/her the teenager. Yes, it is some very pretty pink lace netting I have found, Mrs Rosie Cuddle-Bugs thinks it is great but Mr Alfie Cuddle-Bugs says he really wishes it were blue, or anything but pink LOL!!

I will do Piggles love but he is still moaning LOL. They all seem fine, I do wish the babies wouldn't scatter when I lift their coco-house up but I know it is natural. Sometimes I will get a grumpy hiss from mum and dad LOL. If only they knew I loved them and would never hurt them.

Animals tend to know when we're trying to help, or when we love them. Not sure about bugs, though.

I like to think they do Piggles love, but I don't think they do either. I love my little family though, today the babies were all together in one place until big naughty grandma here disturbed them LOL!!

Yes they do love, I have told them I love them but the babies are too young to understand but I think Rosie, Alfie and the teenagers are starting to learn, I hope so anyway. Mum and babies all very well I am pleased to report.

Thanks for your continued interest hunny. I put some food in today as I obviously do every day and got hissed at. They have moved the babies to a different part of the home so I decided just to leave them to it today. It is hard for me not to want contact though because they are pets after all, but Paul rightly says just back off a little until the babies are a bit bigger. Thought I heard some swear words this morning though (can't think where they heard those LOL), I hope Alfie told them off LOL!!
