Zippy was my most vocal pig, and he talked in whole sentences, complete with sighs and flops and anything else that made his point. I totally understood what he was saying, not word for word, but the point he was making. It was quite interesting. Most of my pigs only talked when they wanted something, but not him ] The real voices, the loud, commanding voices, all have come from my sows. This threesome is very talkative, among themselves, which is great. I know they are communicating. Lost of purrs, chirps, trills, etc. Nice to hear conversation coming from Pigloo City

Oh how wonderful Piggles love, he used to have proper chats with you then, that must have been gorgeous. To know exactly what he was asking for or telling you. Yes I must admit, all my noisy piggies have been ladies.

Took Morty to the vet last night, and the girls went along for company. He talked to the vet and vet tech, and they were enjoying it greatly. The girls were in the carrier doing trills and squeaks

Update: three months on, they've now found their wheeks; especially at meal time. They're not shy to call me when the fridge door opens or they hear me washing their food bowls. I use plastic kimchi bowls for their veg and banging them together, accidentally of course , creates an echoey sound and always gets a reaction. If I can make a short video, I'll try to post it here.

Update: three months on, they've now found their wheeks; especially at meal time. My new pig wheeked the first night we brought him home, and he sounded identical to his cage neighbor (Oscar). He's been mostly silent since then, but recently he'll softly wheek around meal times.

That's nice. How old is your new pig? We got him from a shelter, and according to his paperwork he's about a year and a half- two years old. About the same age as my other pig. (This is my third pig, my second one died unexpectedly after an illness in November. He didn't wheek too much, but when he did he sounded like a drop of water hitting the sink: "Doink, doink!")

What a great analogy, Jo It is like a baby's first words Don't be surprised if their wheeks change over time. Very much like a baby, they have different wheeks depending on what they're saying. There will also often be a speaker pig, who has the loudest voice, and is elected to get your attention when they want food. That pig will also be the alarm pig, who announces if there's a problem, such as a spider or wasp in the cage. That wheek should bring you running! I've only heard it once, and the whole tone was very different from the treats wheek. There was a wasp in the cage, that time, and the pigs were gathered around it, watching it carefully but keeping their distance.

Thank you Piggles love. Yes there are definitely different wheeks which mean different things. Sometimes my two will have which can only be described as a full conversation.
