Hi everyone! I love all animals, and I love helping all types of animals, so I'm so excited that soon we are planning on opening up a rescue for pets in need of rehoming (and rescuing, but most pets are just in need of a new home, not being saved). We will be working with a lot of guinea pigs, including a lot of guinea pigs that have been kept alone, and we will try to pair them up into small, forever herds where they can find wonderful, forever homes together. This forum is very helpful, and I look forward to learning and making friends. Thanks for letting me join! : )

Hello and a warm welcome to Wheekers!
Exciting news about the rescue. I can imagine it will be hard and frustrating work at times, but very rewarding to know you're helping so many animals. We foster for a local small animal rescue and really enjoy having extra visitors to stay!
LOVE your profile picture by the way!

Hi! Im new to this forum just seeking advice about homemade treats... Most recipes say to add oats but I've heard that oats are bad for piggies? Thanks, Lilly and Mojo (my guinea pig)

I don't make any homemade treats but however I have heard you can blend up there pellets to use as a base instead of oats for a thickener

Oats are rather high in calories so not great for them - really for treats, things like some freshly picked grass or corn husks are perfect as they will get them as giddy as anything and they're good for them too. I've seen some amazing mixed salads rustled up for guinea pigs if it's the idea of doing something for them that you like! Also, it's billed as being for rabbits, but I can vouch for pigs loving the cardboard toys on this page. The one at the bottom with bits of veg and hay stuck into the different sections really keeps them entertained and happy for a while!

Hello and welcome, gitabooks Best of luck with your rescue and with pairing the piggies. It's great to have rescues that allow us to bring in our lone pig, and do a meet and greet to find a great partner Hello and welcome, Lily_and_Mojo This is a good place to start making treats. If you page down, you'll find instructions for baked treats Good luck, and please let us know how the treats are www.wikihow.com/Make-Guinea-Pig-Treats
