Hi! we have just welcomed into our home 2 beautiful baby boar brothers Maxie and Mojo. They were 4 weeks old when we bought them home. I read and researched as much as possible before bringing them home. For our family, it was a huge decision and one not taken lightly. I knew that they would be loved and cared for, even before I set eyes on them, and now I could not imagine being without them. Little gorgeous ones they are!
After reading many forums I've decided to join Wheekers, so thank you for having me.
Maxie and Mojo are now 7 weeks old. I'm happy to say they are both settling in well. Both boys are eating and pooping and drinking like there is no tomorrow, not necessarily in that order!
After a few short weeks they cuddle up on my 4 year old daughters lap during run time, and eat treats from her hand. Surprisingly, food wise, they are the least interested in eating their hay although it's always available, followed by pellets. They adore their veggies, and fruit, by far Is their favourite.
I'm happy to say that both boys are settling in well although we had our first escape within 24 hours of bringing them home! I bought them out for a quick hello/ nice to meet you/run time in what I though was a safe kiddie pool. I was having a beautiful snuggle with Maxie and was about to put him down when Mojo who was already in the run just up and jumped right out of it!
After looking at hundreds of pictures of c&c cages without roofs I was shocked that such a little pig could/can/will jump out like that! There was a towel in the bottom which probably gave him a bit of traction.
Worst of all was he squeezed under a gap in our wall shelving unit, with only one way in or out.
It is 4 feet in length so after a stressful few hours waiting to see if he would come out, we (hubby!) had to cut a hole, and gently coaxhim out. Whoops!
Thankfully he was just fine after his little adventure but it was a huge lesson learnt. Never take their safety or agility for granted, especially Mojo, who seems to have a panache for climbing and jumping!
I promptly bought an enclosure suitable for run time (they are housed indoors but not in a c&c cage). They are utterly adorable and are settling in better than I could have ever imagined. The whole family love them to bits, and although it's only early days, I'm sure we will have many more adventures to share.
Until next time xoxo
