Hi, my name is Heather and I currently have three little piggies. Vicky is about six months old and we believe she is pregnant. If she is pregnant, it would have happened before we got her. Simba and Nala are both about a year old and are brother and sister. Simba is neutered, so there are no worries about him getting our girls pregnant. We have had Vicky for 6 weeks and the other 2 for about 5 weeks.

Hi and welcome to Wheekers! It sounds like you've had an eventful introduction to your new pigs. Just out of interest, where did you get them from - a rescue or a pet shop? There are definitely more accidental pregnancies resulting from mis-sexed or improperly separated pigs at pet shops, but it can happen at rescues that aren't used to handling pigs too. We've had a few surprise pregnanies on here lately (pigs already being pregnant when they were brought home) and I had one myself many years ago and can remember the shock of realising I was about to have even more pigs! Sorry if it's a daft question, but are you 100% sure of the sexes and also that Simba is neutered? If there's any room for doubt, it'd be worth getting a guinea pig savvy vet to confirm that for you. This page on sexing is very helpful too. Guinea pig pregnancies are about 2 months, so if Vicky is pregnant, I'm sure it won't be too long before that's confirmed. Usually guinea pig pregnancies and births go quite smoothly, but I think the most important thing is to have a good vet to hand if Vicky does get in to difficulty. Hopefully you won't need one, but if you do, the time you save looking one up now could make a major difference. Good luck - I really hope all goes smoothly if she is pregnant. Please keep us posted on how they're doing and if you have any photos of them, all the better!

Greetings from Washington! I also had a pig come to me pregnant. We had no idea until she was within a few days of labor. She gave birth about a month after we got her. Her son is now 5 weeks old and the cutest little thing ever! I am new here as well and have gotten the warmest of welcomes and wonderful advice.
