I often listen to freeform radio wfmu.org and by chance I ended up here wfmu.org/playlists/shows/74677 That's where I found this track. There's so much to listen to (http://wfmu.org/playlists), I'll never get through them all! I love these kind of radio stations where you can listen to much more than the current hits. Actually, I couldn't name these latest hits. Maybe I'll catch up in twenty years or so

Sorry hunni, I cannot listen to anything at the moment as my speaker has fallen behind the computer and am waiting for Paul to get it for me.

Cool! We have music channels on the TV, so if I were to listen to music, I would use those. I used to listen to the blues channel, and found my guinea pigs like blues, too. I haven't used the music channels since I moved here. My computer to play freeform is in the other room, but I will try it one of these days, just for fun

Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls

I loved Minnie Ripperton's singing, it is a shame the dear lady died so young. The Pet Shop Boys were good. The PS really stood for Public (Private in the US) School. Not only could they sing but their speaking voices were superb also.

I loved West End Girls, though I don't know anything about east end and west end. I don't know if knowing what that meant made extra sense, but I thought it was a pretty effective song, anyway. Loved to sing along in the car

The East End of London is very rough Piggles love. It is where many of the slums were before it was all cleaned up. The West End tends to be upper class but still not completely devoid of unpleasant parts.

Oh I used to love The Pet Shop Boys (I can still remember all the lyrics) so enjoyed that one!
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac was covered by one of the bands at the Rock School my kids went to over the summer - such a great song!

I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan, so love their songs, and that's one of my favorites. I hope the band had fun doing it Ah, so East End/West End is like Billy Joel's song Uptown Girls, where uptown is the upper income area, and he was one of the downtown bad boys. I have a friend in Liverpool, and she's posted pics of areas that, during the Beatle era, were totally run down. Now, they're looking so great. I'm glad some of the London slums are gone, though I'm sure they've just been moved to those horrible high rise council flats. Still, better than the old slums!

Liverpool is a fantastic city - we really enjoyed our recent visit there and the architecture is amazing. The areas that had been run down have certainly been rejuvenated - it won City of Culture a good few years ago and that always seems to generate lots of funding and sprucing up in the years after.

Yes Piggles love, just like Uptown Girl. Liverpool has picked up immensely since the days of the Beatles as you have confirmed Bean hunni. Great song too sweetie, I too liked a lot of Fleetwood Mac's songs.

Neil Hannon of the Divine Comedy composed the theme tune for Father Ted, which later became incorporated in this fantastic song.
