I've not heard the lyrics from Old McDonald sampled before!
Rufus Wainwright is one of my favourite artists - love his voice and wish I could play piano like him (or even at all actually - but with the years practising part cut out!).

Very nice I don't recall hearing him before, so having a sampler was nice. I took piano lessons for way too long, and to no avail. I am incredibly right handed. I could play all the right hand parts flawlessly, and none of the left hand parts. Drove my teacher and parents nuts. No amount of practice was going to change that, so I took up the guitar, which was much more to my liking.

Bluegrass isn't really my style, though I like it better than I like country.

I know this song because my father loved to listen to Peggy Lee. Why didn't he introduce me to the original version?

Fever was always one of my favorite songs I like that version Do any of you get Live From Daryl's House in you viewing selections? It's a show with Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates, filmed mostly at his fabulous house in upstate New York, though the current year has him at a club he bought and renovated in town. He has a different guest artist on each show. He and his band do the guests songs and they all do some of his songs. Lots of variety in the guests. If you can watch it, it's a nice show. They always do a cooking section in the middle of the show, with guest chefs, and they all sit around the table and talk about their careers. Short but very interesting part of the show. Mostly, it's just a lot of really well done music. www.livefromdarylshouse.com/

Bluegrass isn't really my style, though I like it better than I like country. I don't like country either. But it's not at the bottom of my list - that's taken by jazz. I just can't get into jazz.

I thought I was the only person who can't get into jazz. I like a few jazz compositions, but that's about it. Duke Ellington-Take Five I'm trying to think of another one I like. Nothing comes to mind.
I do like swing and the big band era, which is what my father used to play. He played trumpet in local swing/jazz bands in the late 40s early 50s. My mother and sister were really into jazz, and my father was a fringe jazz buff, so I was the only one who totally didn't get it. Hubby listens to jazz, and I still don't care for it. I like recognizable melodies, as I like to hum or sing along, and Jazz is improvisational.

I love the jitterbugging and jiving of the 40's and 50's too love but I have never been able to get into jazz although I appreciate the talent of those such as this young chap.

Apparently this is jazz though, and I kinda like it so maybe I'm just picky about my jazz Gregory Porter - "On My Way To Harlem"

That's what I call soft jazz, only because that's how it's listed on the music stations on my TV. I'm not into that. No definite melody to follow, no beat to dance to, etc. Hubby loves that music.
This is more my style, when it comes to music with no lyrics. Sorry if the Bernie Sanders ad plays first:

I guess it's difficult to get the jazz club from The Fast Show out of my head

I had to Google The Fast Show. Sounds a bit too frenetic for me. I went to many jazz concerts when I was a kid, as my parents never seemed to miss one. There were pieces, or parts of pieces that I liked, but generally I just didn't get it. There were too many solos that lasted too long. I remember a Thelonious Monk concert where he kept getting up from the piano bench and tottering around as if he were drunk, then sitting back down at the piano and playing? I remember a Woody Herman concert where the seats were ridiculously hard, and my butt was really hurting. Definite indications that I wasn't really absorbed by the music Same with all the classical music concerts my parents dragged me to, but at least, once I listened to the compositions on record, in my own comfortable surrounds, I found I liked quite a few pieces. I never could sit still for very long. My favorite piece is Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. The Gates of Kiev is my favorite part of the symphony. I also love Ravels Bolero. Operas come with a story guide, and I still don't like opera. I think Pictures should come with a story guide, as it's about a walk through an art exhibit, with each painting represented as a segment, and the same promenade connecting each painting, as the viewer walks through the exhibit. Pictures at an Exhibition:

Themes used to use classical compositions. Does anyone remember an old detective show called Peter Gunn?
