Just testing you, and well done, you passed your dementia check!
I failed mine however...! I thought I'd posted it, but couldn't find it, so assumed I'd just thought about it. But it was in the word association thread.
I love this song. It's an Italian protest song that features in the series Money Heist (or La Casa de Papel). Apparently it was originally used by workers in the paddy fields in 19th century northern Italy, but was adopted by the Italian resistance movement, so is a general anti-fascism anthem, both in Italy and beyond.

Loved it! Also had to laugh. Italian American hubby's parents went to Italy, and brought him a t-shirt that said Ciao Roma. He asked me what see ay oh meant, and his parents waited for me to answer. I had to stop laughing, first Then I told him what it was, and they hesitated for a few moments, then the light seemed to dawn on them. Their faces were hilarious! Anyway, he and they had always thought it was spelled chow, ciao. Great Italians they are. I have an Italian Facebook friend, who used to be on Wheekers, and she gets such a hoot out of his bad Italianisms, lol So I easily got caught up in singing along, lol

Glad you enjoyed it - I really like the guy's voice, it's lovely. That's funny about the t-shirt!

Might be nice to have on in the background while you're doing something mellow, but it didn't really capture my attention.

I liked it, but I have to admit I kept waiting for something to happen. I thought it was well composed and interesting.

One of my favorites, and it has a story for us. When my husband broke up with his first wife, he had the album, and she broke it. It was his favorite, so I searched everywhere but couldn't find that album. I could find others, but not that one. My mother asked a relative who owned a record store, and he tracked down the album for me. I gave it to hubby for his first birthday with me. Very important to him!

Great song, and while I don't think the original can be bettered, I do really like The Stranglers' version.
This is one of my favourite original/ cover combos!

I wasn't killed with The Stranglers version of Walk On By. I grew up on the original, so hearing it done so differently just didn't strike me well.
I like Kate Bush's version of WH better than China Drum's version. It seemed like a good song to do in Kate Bush's style. I hadn't heard the WH song before.
