Now I know what's the correct name of this part. Thanks. I saw one 4x4 which had electric ones that retracted when the door was closed. Pretty cool! I'll give you vehicle as that's all the parts Wing

Vehicle fits the theme, lol The running board is actually the part of the vehicle under the door. The steps, which can be molded in, electric and retracting, or just bolted to the frame under the car, are usually add-ons. The electric ones that retract are available on the Lincoln SUV, and I'm not sure about the Cadillac, both way out of my price range. I think they can be purchased and added to any vehicle, as the after market for upgrades is even bigger than the original vehicle market. In the old gangster movies we often see everyone from the police to the gangsters riding on the step that used to be included in the running board package. I'm not sure when that became an add-on, instead of a standard part, at least in the US. I love the retractible ones, though I've heard the electro-mechanical parts can get fouled pretty easily, and need repair. A friend had one that didn't retract when he expected it to, and when he entered a toll both, the step ripped half way off the vehicle and was dragging. He had to rig a way to stop it from dragging long enough to get the vehicle home so he could fix it. Luckily, he was a mechanic, so he always tools with him.

Totally stuck on a Z auto part. Zoom, Zip are about performance, if they count.
