So I have a question. I know piggies can have grass from your yard, but can they have cat grass?

I couldn't say for certain, but I would think as long as there are no lawn chemicals/insecticides on it, it should be okay. However- our resident expert on guinea pigs is 3Piggles, and she would know far more about this than I would. If she doesn't see this thread tonight, she'll probably get to it by tomorrow. Trust her word over mine.

Yes, they can eat cat grass. It is wheat grass, and available in bags in garden centers. If you want to plant your own, just use a flat that's about 2 inches deep, and sew the seed as thickly as you want it to grow. I've grown it many times in the past. It will regrow 2-3 times before it seems to pick up a fungus I wouldn't want the pigs to eat. So once you get a healthy batch of wheat grass growing, watch for the white, filmy fungus, and toss it when you see that.

Thank you! We moved into my house 4 years ago, and still don't have grass. We won't be getting grass for a while because its quite expensive. I was at my local Grocery store and they had cat grass seeds so i thought i could pick some up this week.

I bought a small bag of wheat grass seed at Home Depot, for about $4, and used to grow my own. It was hit or miss, depending on the amount of light I had. I still have the bag of grass seed, and doubt I'll ever use it all

Cat grass? I've never heard of such a thing, but then again, I've never had cats!
