That's why I didn't invite you along, Baz!
The kids were stuffing their faces all the way round (they give you a few bars of chocolate each when you enter) but my husband and I found the smell of the chocolate everywhere was quite overwhelming - nice but it kind of dampened your appetite for it, especially as it was a hot day. I think I've actually eaten far less chocolate since we visited! At one point they offer you a little pot of melted chocolate to which you can add two toppings (things like fudge pieces, popping candy or buttons etc). It was so sickly, I couldn't even finish mine.
When I was at university in Birmingham, my friend and I applied for jobs at Cadbury World, just cleaning jobs that fitted in round our lectures, but we were both total chocoholics and were looking forward to smelling that lovely chocolate as we buffed the floors! We'd just moved into a new house and our housemate who'd had the phone line connected gave us the number which we put on our application forms. We were surprised when we didn't hear anything, but later found out that we'd got the jobs but our friend had told us the wrong phone number (this is pre-mobile phones) so they gave them to someone else! Anyway, I went for a different job and that's where I ended up meeting my husband!

Our new rug has arrived, and I'm loving it. We have yellow as an accent color in the living room, and red as an accent color in the kitchen, and house/furniture that is dark/medium neutral. We wanted a rug that would pull the colors together, and give us a good pop of color in all that neutral. I still need Vic to help me center it a bit better, as it's really bulky and heavy for me. That's the way I felt when I had my chocolates business. I painted the chocolate molds with different colors to bring out the design, then poured the chocolate into the molds to get a painted chocolate. They were beautiful, an incredible amount of work, and and endless reheating of chocolate. After a while, the sweetness and chocolate really started to get to me, and I'd have to take a break and get some fresh air. It's actually a great way to break a craving, as after a while, I didn't want any chocolate, at all! We got some free chocolate bars at different stages in the Hersey's tour, too, which was great. Too bad you didn't get the jobs, Bean. I think that would have been fun. Landline phone problems haven't changed a bit since then, either!

That's why I didn't invite you along, Baz! I would have been an emotional mess, LOL! Security would have had to drag me away, crying.

Haha!
3piggles, if I'd got the job, I'd never have met my husband. But I'd have got to use a floor buffing machine and I was quite excited about that. Hmmmm not sure if it worked for the best or not!
The factory staff there said (at the time, I bet they don't do it now it's owned by Mondelez) that they were allowed to eat as much chocolate as they wanted while they were at work. They found that after an initial surge, people were over it and barely ate any at all!
Love the rug and it works brilliantly with the room. Good choice!

Thanks for the nice comments about the rug. It really brightens the room, which is quite large being open to the kitchen and dining room. I'm looking for runners for the two hallways, runners that will brighten those spaces, but not compete to the main rug. I'm with you about some chocolates, but not all. Cadbury cream eggs have changed the recipe somehow, and they're really sweet now I used to love them. Now, I can't eat a whole one without gaging. I really love the chocolate bars with crispies in them, such as the Nestle's Crunch bar, but the factory wasn't giving those out for free, even in the really small size. Just as well, as I would have kept getting back in line for more, lol

Cadbury's have changed so much since they got taken over by Kraft (which is now Mondelez) - recipes, shapes, variety pack inclusions, bar sizes etc. And very little for the better!

Thanks, Jo. I bought it from Overstock.com, and saved a bundle!
