I've never had cause to do a video call for work, but as someone who's worked from home a lot, I totally empathise with the need to create (the impression of) a professional work atmosphere while family chaos goes on around you. My kids are older (and were when I started working from home), so the most I've had to do is a pleading 'shush' sign to remind them I'm on a call, but this is priceless!

We've always used Skype, and it is open to whatever is happening around us when we're talking. We found Skype for computers has suffered a lot over the years, as they geared up for use on phones. Last time we tried to use it, it kept endlessly disconnecting, so not much point in using it. We'll have to try it again.

My buddy did this video with his family at the Descanso Gardens (I have no idea where that is, but I assume California) (and that's his daughter, so prominently featured- she's of mixed races, much like my daughter.)

Wow, cool place! Yes, it is in California. I googled it I would enjoy it, but I think it's a really great place for kids

Interesting vid of crickets slowed down: Actually, I checked Snopes.com and apparently this is unconfirmed; the original artist has passed away and there is no way to check EXACTLY what he did to get the sounds he recorded, as others have tried and not gotten the same result. Still, I thought it was nice enough to share with my fellow animal lovers here.

It's certainly interesting - a lovely sound if it is simply the chirping slowed down, but a bit dubious it's not been replicated.
Here are a couple of videos that caught my attention this week.
The first is a cat using a zebra crossing - very funny!
The second is a clip of some elephants - a baby falls into the water and the adults (its mum and aunt) rescue it. As soon as one adult realises the baby is in trouble, the other two adults immediately respond (although one is penned off so can do little besides pace the boundary line in an agitated fashion). I know elephants are highly intelligent and sensitive creatures, so am not surprised at how they responded, but it's still really special to watch.

That is adorable Baz love, I adore little crickets and whether it is unconfirmed or not, I wish people would realise how our little buggy friends work and get to know them, they are both cute and amazing. Thanks for sharing hun. The is wonderful to see kitty using the zebra crossing, I am so glad people stopped for him. That was adorable with the elephants, they way they rushed you could almost hear them say "Hang on darling, mummy and auntie (I assume they were two ladies) are coming." Again, thank you for these beautiful videos.

Cool musical effect, whatever it was. It's cool to think it's just the sound of the crickets, but it would be nice to have that verified. I love the video of the elephants. The one in the background, on the other side of the fence, so determined to do something to help, but couldn't get there. Must have been going nuts not being able to get to the little one to help! I've seen dogs use crosswalks, but I don't think I've ever seen cats do it

I haven't either Piggles love although it is thought that cats have more road sense anyway but I think it depends on the individual.

We had one cat, when I was young, who used to climb to the top of the lilac tree, then start chasing his tail. We would here him falling through the branches. The tree was up to my second floor window, so he had a bit of a fall, bouncing off the branches as he went. Never stopped him from doing it again. Each time, we'd run outside to see if he were okay, and he was just addled. I think he was born addled Loved that cat

He was totally loopy, Jo We had a very long house, and he would start at one end, and run through the house to the other end, over the rungs of chairs, legs of tables, you name it. He seemed to get an idea in his head, and just go with it

Bringing this thread back with a vengeance!
Check out these dancers on the subway:
For me, part of it is simply the joy of performing. Also, I love their "slo-mo" effect. These guys are wonderful to watch.

Oh that's great - I wish they'd been on my train when I was commuting!
For some reason the guy near the start doing the routine with his foot behind his head amused me the most! The grinning guy in the red tracksuit has definitely added more smiles to my Monday morning than I've usually clocked up by 8.30am too!

Oh bless him, that's certainly a pig who has a great bond with their owner! I've had some clever pigs who have enjoyed learning simple tasks for a treat, but nowhere near as talented as that little guy!
