A friend of mine has commented that he's glad he was born when he was; kids nowadays do a lot of stupid things (and record them) so much of that will be preserved on the internet to embarrass them for years to come. (he's got two kids and the oldest (16 now) has already pulled some bonehead maneuvers.)
On the positive side though, I do enjoy keeping track of my daughter's adventures. Every year I put a disc together I do a slideshow and a video highlights reel, plus any other oddball video I do over the course of the year. This year will feature a short science video Vicki did in 4th grade, plus the "cavies" video!

I love watching the things they do on "You've Been Framed." To have your own private collection must be wonderful.

I'm with your friend, Baz. Not only did most of what we did as kids not warrant being recorded and saved for posterity, embarrassing grown children is the parents job, and should be left to us, lol We are all the total of everything experience we've had in our lives, good and bad. Most of us have endless trouble not dwelling on every little mistake we made, so we really don't need to be endlessly reminded. The other thing about the analog era was the personal privacy we exercised on a regular basis. If someone callled and wouldn't stop talking, and we wanted to get off the phone, we'd flag our mother who would knock on the wall to get the dog barking, or would call us to do something. We got to say we had to answer the door, or our mother was calling and we had to go. The chatty friend was none the wiser. In college, the dorms were locked at 10 p.m., and we would all go to the campus coffee house to have a security guard walk us back to the dorm. We went in groups, and usually used the dorm locking as an excuse to get out of a bad date. We would not have wanted to have all the crazy things we did once we were back on campus or in the dorm posted on social media Not being able to connect anytime, anywhere, anyway has it's benefits Vicki is going to love the video because you made it, and because she's important enough to you for you to want to remember her that way

That's a shame, Jo, I'm sorry you don't have any way of getting them back.
I've come to a bit of a stall with sorting out my pictures as I've been using any spare time to do the blasted decorating! But I'm definitely going for quality over quantity now, unlike I did at the time of taking them! Any I take from now on, I must get better at editing them right away and deleting all the duds!

That's the problem with photos before the digital era. We've lost hundreds that didn't make it through moves, got water damage or something. I wish we still had those, too, but they're gone forever. I know what you mean, Jo. I keep meaning to google digital picture frames, and forgetting. Tomorrow isn't supposed to be a good walking day, so I can get on the computer and shop

Thank you very much ladies. I lost a lot of them when I had them in my handbag which was stolen in London in 1975. There were a lot more besides these but I don't know what happened to them.

Ugh, Jo It's one thing to lose them in a move, but to have them stolen is worse Ours are probably in a tub somewhere in the old storage facility, and we'll find them when we finally clean out the storage facility. Many events, though, just didn't get photographed, and I wish they had. Hubby connected my computer directly to the router, so no more dropped Internet, stalled Internet, etc. Not sure when the networking cards are supposed to arrive, but for now, the Internet is solid and fast. It's late, so I'll get caught up tomorrow. He worked from home because of the snow, so I let him have the office to himself for the day.

That's awful to have the photos stolen, Jo. It's annoying enough to lose material possessions, but stuff with sentimental value can't ever be replaced.
We just bought an old chest of drawers and when I was giving them a quick wipe round inside, right at the back I found an old black and white wedding photo. I wonder if it was the couple who had the drawers? It was a nice find anyway, thinking of who might have owned them before us, although I do hope whoever cleared it out isn't missing it.
Glad you have a temporary fix to your internet problems, 3piggles, but hope the network cards arrive soon.

I had my handbag stolen Bean hunni when in a London restaurant and there were loads in there. I feel gutted to this day. Those network cards seem to be taking a very long time Piggles love, I too hope they arrive soon.

They do seem to be taking a long time to arrive, don't they, Jo? I think the expected delivery date was actually 1/21, so they're not late. I'll have to check the order. They're small, so I hope they didn't just fall through the cracks along the way. Meanwhile, the direct connection is working great. I type fairly fast, and the letters are finally appearing as I type them. We had whole house humidifiers on each floor of the condo, but here, with the great room, we've only used two of them. One is in the dining room, and the other is sort of in the living room. Vic finally put a small humidifier in his bedroom, which he said worked great keeping him from waking up all night with a dry mouth, and needing to get up to get a drink of water. I've had a chronic, low-grade sinus infection on the right side of my face for months, and my right ear has been blocked for years. I know the ear problem is due to sinuses. If I can get the sinuses to drain on that side, it unblocks the ear. I put one of the whole house humidifiers in my room yesterday, thinking it would help even out the humidity being all on one side of the great room. I overfilled it a bit, so I set it on high, to use up the extra water. I had 71% humidity in the room when I woke up this morning. As soon as I sat up, my sinuses started to drain like a dam breaking. They finally stopped around noon. The pressure in the right ear is much less. I don't think it's ever going to stay totally open, but it's so much better. The left side sinuses have drained enough to drain away most of the infection, so that's also much better. I should have started the humidifier when the summer humidity first ended. At least I'm getting the benefit, now

I used to suffer with sinus problems when I was little Piggles love so I know how horrid it is. We could do with de-humidifiers here in our home but I am worried about the animals (snailies etc) and conditions for them becoming too dry.

Glad your sinuses have finally cleared, 3piggles. I used to suffer a lot with mine too, but haven't in years (no idea why) and I'm very grateful.
We use a dehumidifer in the winter, when the windows aren't open as much. It's set to about 65% and just takes in the extra moisture from showers and drying washing. Otherwise it all condenses on the windows and any cold spots around the eaves. What humidity do the snails & co like, Jo? Could you just add some extra water in their enclosures to counteract any dryer air in the room?

That is a really good idea Bean love because even after we have had double glazing put in, there is still a very damp atmosphere in the house, the bathroom is terrible despite fans etc. I think we will have to do something along the lines which you suggest, many thanks for the tip hunni. Firstly however rooms need to be cleaned properly when we can afford to get someone into do it as the walls behind furniture are black in some cases and it is going to take a man to move them and clean behind. Tracey is wonderful but I don't expect her to move heavy furniture. It is the snailies and hermies who mustn't get too dry, it can seriously damage their health.

It was like that in Florida, when we stayed with relatives. It was already humid, and after a shower, it was rain forest humid. They didn't open windows, which most bathrooms seemed to have. They didn't even have exhaust fans in some of the bathrooms. The humidity level was like that of a steam room! Definitely too much even for me, and a dehumidifier would have been great!
Air gets very dry in the winter time, here, even when it's not bitterly cold. That's one thing I love about winter cold. I'd like summer heat better, if not for all the humidity. But for dry skin, sinuses, and not zapping ourselves across the room with static electricity, we need humidifiers. I think we will invest in a dehumidifier, for the summer, as the a/c can't get rid of enough of the humidity.

Oooh I'm worried about you and hub with black mould, Jo - that stuff is so bad for your health. Is it just down to ventilation or is there a problem with damp that the housing association needs to sort out?
Glad that it looks like you might be able to decrease your moisture levels while keeping the snailies and hermies cosy though. I don't know if you have freegle/ freecycle down there (where people give away stuff for free or ask for things) but dehumidifiers come up a fair bit on our local one. They can be quite expensive to buy, so it might be worth a look.
I don't think our air ever gets too dry here!

We do have the window open and there is a fan in there Piggles love but for some reason we can't get rid of the damp. The council say it is not damp but condensation and we should open all our windows, oh yes, what about when we have cold weather? I think a dehumidifier is going to be a must Bean hunni. The trouble is most of the black walls and floors are in my bedroom where my little babes are so it is a poser.

Have you told your doctor about the black mold in your bedroom? It may be contributing to your health problems. If so, there might be some way to get it abated through NHS, which would be a major improvement. Condensation could be reduced by running fans, but everything you do will increase your electric bill. There are moisture catchers, but once full, they have to be replaced, which also costs money. Unless you have a bathroom right off your bedroom, and you two take long baths and showers, there shouldn't be any condensation in your room. That almost sounds as if it's seeping in from outside, or there is a leak somewhere that's ending up in your room. There are paints to stop mold, but again, you would have to move the furniture and do the painting, as it doesn't seem that the council is going to do anything about it. If you can, take some pictures, and take them to the doctor next time you have an appointment(regular doctor). Perhaps the doctor could force the council to do something about it. It's definitely not healthy for you are the animals, especially the mammals, to be breathing that moldy air, or possibly having items you touch or wear coming in contact with the mold

I usually have a fan on at night Piggles love, because I cannot sleep without that permanent breeze. No I haven't told my doctor about the mould in my bedroom as i only tell close friends because quite frankly I am ashamed of it. It is in a couple of places in my bedroom and I never close the door now so there is never stale air in there. Believe it or not, the last time we had the whole place decorated anti-mould paint was used. My showers are relatively short and there is a fan in there too. I think it is coming from outside though and I believe other neighbours are having the same problem.
