Sorry Timmy hasn't warmed up to you yet. I don't really know much about pygmy hedgehogs - is it quite rare for them to be grumpy or does it happen quite a bit? I'm sure you have lots of tips and trick from when you tried to coax Lewie round, so I hope they work with Timmy. It's early days yet, so fingers crossed. Jo, I found this online shop when I was looking yesterday - it's a Staffordshire company and they post them out freshly made to you! It also looks like they do packet mixes, and I even saw reference to a gluten-free one, but couldn't see a clear buying link for that one as with other products. I might get in touch with them if I don't think there's much chance of me getting round to making my own!

UK people, I have a question. My daughter would like a Wilbur the Penguin, which apparently is the mascot for British Gas. Do you or anyone you know, know how she could go about getting one? If so, I appreciate the info, and will pass it on to her. Ooh, that out cake looks fabulous! It's like an oat pancake or crepe. It would be nice to get a recipe that makes really good ones. I have enough oats in the house to start a business making these Sorry Timmy isn't a happy camper yet. Have you researched ways to make them feel more at home and more intersted in interacting with you? I'm not saying this is the case, simply using it as an example, but a lot of people with trouble getting their guinea pigs to adjust, and it's based on their lifestyles and/or the location of the cage. Pigs kept in bedrooms where no one is home most of the time tend not to adjust because they have 90% of the day to themselves, and 10% of someone poking at them, dragging them out for cuddles, blasting music or a TV, etc. Conversely, pigs housed in the middle of really loud, overly active families also tend to shy away from the people and the general chaos. Those people will say everyone said to include the pigs in the daily lives of the family. Yes, but we thought you acted like humans, not like a pack of wild dogs! Sometimes it's as simple as moving the habitat to a different location. My daughter had the guinea pig cage on the floor in her bedroom. I kept telling her to put it on a table in front of the window, so they were off the floor and out of her endless clutter. When I moved them down to the livingroom, onto a table, they both really came out of their shells. Sometimes there's too much light. Sometimes there isn't enough light. It can be really hard to get it just right, as we have to work with what we have, but even a small change can make a big difference. Are hedgies like guinea pigs, not liking to have hands coming at them like predators, and wanting hands and feet on something solid? Those cages that only allow for one hand in to pick up a dangling pig and drag it out through the little door do nothing to make pigs want to be picked up and held. I really don't know about hedgies or about their habitats. Good luck getting Timmy to settle in. I hope he gets aclimated soon

I've not even heard of Wilbur, so I don't expect I'll be much help! I just did a quick search though and appears they are a much sought after item and lots of people who received them (as a free gift) are selling them for around £50-80 on eBay! People selling on eBay often have an option for overseas postage. That's a lot of money for a cuddly toy!

You are an angel Bean love, I didn't know you could get them in the post. I could always buy some and freeze them. They are just wonderful with melted cheese. Thanks again sweetie.
I know who you mean Piggles love and he is adorable. That little penguin with the ruck sack and the scarf around his neck. I love pengies and just want to reach out and cuddle him.
I too Bean hunni hope that Timmy will warm to me as I certainly don't want another Lewie that is for sure. It is very upsetting when you look forward to something and then feel deflated. I expected him to have the odd huff but not constantly and as soon as we go near him.
I know what you are saying Bean love but he is in a comfortable, warm and quiet room so I really don't think it is anything to do with housing. Also he has come with his own pouch and hutch so it isn't as if he is actually in anything strange. No, I have been assured that the more handling the better and whenever I am sitting down I have him on my lap and carry him around with me in a little pouch which I was also told to do. He was fine with Helen which really adds to my concern. I really hope this works out but I have a really bad feeling about this and I have waited so long for him.
Hugs Jo xx

Let me know how the oatcakes are if your order them - I'd get some myself if it weren't for the small problem of not being able to eat wheat anymore! I've really got to make some - each time I read this thread, my mouth starts watering!
Aww hopefully Timmy is just a bit put out at being moved from a place and people he knows, and he will learn that he's got it good where he is now too. Fingers are crossed, Jo. x

I will do love if I order some and it is such a shame you can't eat them anymore. It is surprising how many people have a wheat allergy, one of my friends has. Thank you Bean honey, I have mentioned Timmy in the March thread, things are not going well.

I think it's a silly thing to spend that much money on, but daughter has always loved penguins, and seems to have a real bee in her bonnet about getting one of these. Luckily her partner is the one to deal with her spending money on it, and we're safely out of it. I'm just getting the word out. One of our former members connected with daughter on Facebook, and is trying to get her one, so I'll leave it to them She got her love of penguins from me, and has a slew of different ones, but apparently not enough. I just enjoy them in small ways, such as my penguin salt and pepper shakers

I love penguins too Piggles love and Wilbur is just adorable. I must admit, I would love a soft toy version of him but have no idea how much they are or even if they are available. Penguin salt and pepper shakers sound lovely.

Target stores feature a different designer each year, and one year their designer did all sorts of wintery things with penguins. I had a mug and the salt/pepper shakers. I gave daughter the mug and it got broken, so I decided to keep the shakers where they'd be safe. We bought granddaughter a piggy bank, and that got broken, also, so it's not a great household for breakable things.
