Hi folks, a friend of a friend of a friend is planning to visit Boston and was asking around about economic/budget/cheap hotels. Do you have any recommendations or can advise on the best US website for checking prices/making reservations?
Thanks very much in advance.

shades, tell your friend to try Tripadvisor.com www.tripadvisor.com/I use the site all the time; just enter "hotels near Boston" in a search engine, and reviews & prices should come up automatically. I find it handy to browse the reviews so you can avoid nasty surprises, like bedbugs or impolite staff. Also, I recommend getting hotels that have an option to refund your reservation if your trip gets cancelled. A chain that's super cheap but not one I like is Motel 6. Stayed at one once... (dramatic pause) ...once.

I love tripadvisor - it's so helpful for picking places to stay or visit. After I've decided somewhere looks promising, I always look at the bad reviews and can quickly tell if the stuff people complain about are things that would bother me too, or if they're just moaning minnies!

Sorry, just found this. I'm outside of Boston, and Baz is right. Use TripAdvisor. Prices can vary by the day, week, etc., so that's the best way to get a good deal. Just have ger check her destination, as she wants to be as close to her destination as possible. If she has a destination address, have her check on hotels within a certain number of miles from that destination.
