I agree with Bean on taking her to the vet. If you think she needs to be seen for the sneezing, get her into a cuddle cup, so you can pick her up cuddle cup and all, and put her in the carrier. I doubt you would have wanted someone picking you up by your belly, with your hands and feet dangling, when you were nine months pregnant. She doesn't, either! If she's sick, though, she needs to be seen, as her system is already as it's most depressed, having other lives taking so much from her system. Can you remove the top of the cage? It is much easier to reach in with both hands, slip something under her to lift her with, and lift her out of the cage with both hands. Most cages have tops that are held on with some sort of clasp that can be removed. Even if you can slide a the overturned pigloo under her, it would help, but not if you have to do it one handed. I've never had a pregnant sow, but after all the pictures of babies I've seen, I'd love to see a newborn up close Best of luck to her

Hi guys!!!! Here is a update: so far no babies but I do very much see the babies kick from the outside all the time, so I believe we are nearing the end 😊. I don't see any crust on or around her nose or eyes from what I can see as she wouldn't let me pet her as of yesterday. I get worried as she has a UTI back in February and I had got that taken care of I'm afraid she will catch another one. As for Chocolate today is the day he goes for surgery!! I am one very nervous mama as I'm so scared. They required he didn't eat after midnight so I gave him extra treats last night and cleaned his cage around 11:45pm but my heart aches this morning as he is on a vengeance and screaming and yelling and just doesn't understand why mama stop feeding him but not his wife!! I told him I'm so sorry but this is for his best interest and he will have special snacks for later!!!

Oh you had my hopes up again posting in this thread! If it's just sneezing with no other symptoms and the babies are so close, I'd leave her be at home until after they're born - she doesn't need the stress of being handled and moved around. The vets is a pretty strange place for a guinea pig to be with all those sounds and smells from other animals, s well as just being somewhere unfamiliar and with different strange-smelling people.
Everything will be crossed for Chocolate here. My vets didn't require me to get the boys to fast before their surgery? They can't vomit, so as long as their mouths are cleared out really well before surgery, there's not much risk of aspiration. But you say he has a really good record with safe neuters, so fingers crossed it will go super smoothly and Chocolate will be back with you soon, chomping on all his favourites.
Make a little packed lunch for him for afterwards, with his favourite things in - getting them eating as soon as possible after surgery is a really good indication of good recovery.
Please keep us updated, and sending lots of good vibes your way. x

I always packed them an nice but easy to eat snack, plus some hay and water, for once they came out of the anesthetic. It was a welcome back treat They seemed to really enjoy it, along with having their favorite bed in the carrier with them. A bit of home in a strange place. Keeping all digits crossed for those babies to make an appearance really soon

And here too honey. Ours always gave birth at night and in the morning we would hear cute little squeaks. There is no feeling like it, it is wonderful. Lots of cuddles for little man after his surgery.

Good Morning thank you so much for thinking of us and keeping us in your prayers! Snuggie still has not had her babies but I see they are more and more active everyday! Chocolate surgery went well he has 4 stitches but it has been very hard recovery for him! He still isn't eating good yet or drinking well but will eat his vegetables. He doesn't move much stays in one place. I check his area a couple times a day and looks good. It does look like he may be peeing blood in his urine I have a call into his vet. He is on pain medicine they gave him Buprenex! If you lovely ladies know of anything I can do to help him I would appreciate it he just isn't himself he isn't vocal at all and Snuggie doesn't understand why and he has no interest in her whatsoever

Bupenex is Morphine, which seems awfully strong for such an operation, but I'm not a vet. Metacam, which is asprin, is the most commonly prescribed pain med for US guinea pigs. I don't know about non-US piggies. I think the morphine is knocking him for a loop. If you can, give him a lower dose than prescribed, and see if that helps him pick up a bit. He needs to eat hay and pellets to not get bloat from his food not moving through his digestive tract. Also, if the morphine dose is high enough, and he has a Urinary Tract Infection(UTI), the morphine may be masking the pain from the UTI, so he's not showing it. Get a probiotic. Bene-bac is available at PetCo. It's a granulated powder, so you can sprinkle it on his veggies. It should help get his appetite a bit, as hit rebuilds any gut flora that was disturbed by the surgery and medication. That's enough blood to have him checked by the vet. I've had three boars neutered, and never had any problem with bleeding. I would definitely get that checked. Not to scare you. It may be perfectly normal, but you need to know what's happening so you can feel okay with it. Good luck

I called the vet this morning as this was a very alarming concern to me and he goes to see them in a little while. I believe the gave that medicine as they believe he would be in a lot of pain. He hasn't truly touched his pellets since he came home and hasn't ate any hay at all. I don't see a lot of poop either! I am truly concerned. He is extremely tensed up and puffy and doesn't move. I will be buying the bene-bac later this evening to help him and if anything I will buy critical care if I truly need to. I have now started giving him water through a syringe

Oh no, I'm sorry Chocolate isn't looking so good. Well done on getting him back to the vet, it sounds like he needs checking over. This is a really useful page on post-operative care. Definitely start the hand feeding ASAP and keep syringe feeding water if he's not taking much on his own - you need to get his guts moving as soon as possible. Metacam is the usual medication of choice for guinea pigs - it's a very effective anti-inflammatory pain killer. Perhaps, as 3piggles suggested, that would be better for him as opiates can make you feel rather out of it which won't help with getting him eating and active. A heat pad would be great for him too, if he's not moving much. Good luck at the vets, hope they can start putting him right and that he's getting back to his usual self very soon. Cadders was really out of sorts on the day he came home from his op, but improved quickly after that - it was awful seeing him so despondent though, so I totally empathise with how worried you must be. Please keep us posted and I will keep everything crossed.

Oh sweetie I am so sorry, I hope he feels better son. When I have a sick baby I always wish I could have the pain instead of them. Thanks for the updates and lots of love is on its way.

Good morning. Chocolate is getting better the vet checked him over and said he sounds a little horsey and it can be from the mask and him not drinking enough but his lungs sound good. They checked his urine for blood and it was negative so they are thinking he had to many cherry tomatoes. They gave him some fluids and a shot of sugar to help boost him. He did loose 2 1/2 ounces in weight but said it could of been caused from the medicine and making him feel loopy. They checked his temperature and it was normal. They checked his stitches and incisions and said no redness or swelling and no indication of infection. So they had me buy liquid vitamins to orally dispense to him. He came home and ate some and did well last night. This morning he is getting back to his normal self, as he ripped out 3 of the 4 stitches I contacted the vet and sent pictures she said everything looks closed and well and she isn't concerned. Just continue to monitor it. He was playing this morning stuck his head in a toilet roll and was running around and was looking for Snuggie. He ate some hay and has been at his water bottle a little today so hopefully over the weekend he will be eating much better.

And now I have a issue with Snuggie's eye ugh 😑. Hopefully it goes away and it's not a visit to the vet but I did call them and sent a picture just to check.
