I had a library room, of sorts. I had read whole series by authors, and had so many books I planned to read again. Plans are great, but ultimately life gets in the way. It was a section of the basement at one house, and we had rows of bookcases holding all the books we'd ever read. Yes, we were book hoarders, too. Then we moved to the condo, and had no room for all the books, and they had to go, or we were going to add about 20 more boxes to put into storage, and not light weight boxes, either. We donated a lot of the books, the whole series of murder mysteries and Sci Fi Fantasy, to the library. Not only did they get whole series of books, but we got a tax deduction for the donation. We put quite a few of them into the book exchange at the super market, which was just a table of books donated by shoppers for other shoppers to read. The text books went to a text book recycler, and anything left went into one of those collection boxes for clothes, only this one was for books. It felt good knowing the books we had enjoyed so much were going to be enjoyed by others, and for a greatly reduced prices so the poor could also read them I know Si wants to keep all his books. So did we. It felt good to have them with us, like old friends. But giving them to the right places can feel really good, too. Books are the same as clothes. We have those we really loved, and hope to wear again someday, but they're out of style or no longer fit us, and if we donate them, then someone else gets to enjoy them Good idea to stay out of the cold and wet. I'll be indoors cooking, tomorrow, so the temps can get as cold as they went!

There are certain books I like to keep as I loved them and will re-read them one day or like to have them to lend to others as I have a lot of friends who love reading too. But my husband just wants to keep them all indiscriminately!
I always feel unburdened by a good clear out - everything looks better and I'm glad the stuff is being used by someone. I think my husband just feels robbed! He would love your library basement!
Anyway, wish me luck for this weekend - I'll see what I can do!
Is is Thanksgiving today? If so, Happy Thanksgiving to anyone celebrating!

Yes, Thanksgiving today. Always the 4th Thursday in November. Dinner was great, even though I forgot to make the salad, completely, lol Best turkey I've ever cooked. I basted it with maple syrup, salt and pepper, and the skin was fabulous. Usually, I skip it, as it's not tasty enough to warrant the extra fat. This skin was tasty and crispy. Have to give a shout out to hubby, who did a lot of the work with or for me, as my back just won't cooperate anymore. Wanted to kill him a few times, lol, but overall, he did a great job He's also not feeling well enough for sorbet, so we'll make that another day. Between the two of us, we got everything cleaned up fairly quickly. I'm taking the rest of the homemade cranberry sauce down to my daughter, as she's having Thanksgiving dinner Sunday. Thought of you with the garlic mashed potatoes, Jo Temps never got above 13F, and the wind was brutal at times. Glad hubby got all the feeders filled last night, so they were full first thing this morning for the birds and animals. He'll refill everything tomorrow, as it's going to be another cold one, though nothing like today. Mid 40sF next week. Go figure It will be nice for the animals and birds to get a break. I'm sad to say, my Facebook friends could not make it through one whole day without posting anti-trump posts, sporting his picture. I swear, they are obsessive about hating him. I hate him, too, but don't look for any post from any site that says something nasty about him. Wallowing in their misery, I'm afraid.

I'm glad you had a great dinner, and that hub was able to step up to save your back.
I'm sorry that you can't catch up with friends on FB without being reminded of something and someone awful. Sometimes you just want a bit of escapism, but it's hard when every arena seems to be filled with the same bile.
Not on the same level as what's going on in your country, but I'm tuning out to Brexit, or trying to!

I wouldn't be surprised if there are opposites on the Brexit issue speaking out for their stand on the subject. I just wish FB didn't allow so many sites that publish garbage. Democrats are treating the trumps the same way republicans treated the Obamas. One friend posted some pictures of Melania. She tends to have squinty eyes, and in my opinion isn't pretty, but is acceptable. I actually think Michele Obama was much prettier, but that could be because she was almost always smiling, while I've never seen a picture of Melania smiling. Anyway, they trashed her the same way the republicans trashed Michele, and I don't think they even realize they're doing it, and that what they're doing is just as bad as what we railed against the republicans doing to the Obamas. It's a mass mentality, and yes, intellectuals are as susceptible as anyone to it. I don't like it. Didn't like it from the republicans, and don't like it from my own party. In all fairness to them, though, he sets himself up for this. He seems unable to keep his mouth shut, and comes across as a narcissistic playground bully. He's perfect for everything from the political cartoons to the memes to the actual news posts In some ways it's better just going to friends pages and getting caught up with them, so Facebook is so busy spamming me with ads for things I couldn't care less about, only about a dozen of my friends posts ever show on my newsfeed. Most of the pages I follow don't show anymore, either, just their forced ads. So this way, I get to actually know what everyone is doing, and not just the few I see all the time. There are some books I could have reread repeatedly, I loved them so much, but when it came to space and the cost and work of moving them all, we decided to let someone else love them, too. I do that with movies and TV shows, Jo. I can watch the some repeatedly, as I've forgotten the most important parts Some movies and books have so much happening, it actually helps to read or watch them several times, as I always find something I missed the other times. Temp is up to 3F. No wind, really, so feels like 3F. No long lines waiting outside for stores to open on Black Friday, in my area I think a lot more stores stayed closed overnight in observance of Thanksgiving, than have before. It seems as if, since it was pointed out that retail isn't an emergency service, and doesn't need to be open on Thanksgiving or at midnight on Black Friday, more and more stores have been staying closed. I also don't think it's helping that brick and mortar stores just aren't doing well. They need to restructure and come out with a new approach. One, The GAP, I think, is closing most of its brick and mortar stores, and opening online shopping stores, where people can try on clothes, see if they fit, then order them online right at the store, and have them shipped home. I know I'm hesitant to buy clothes online, as they never fit me right. If I could try them on first, that would be nice. This is just in major cities, where people tend to be out and about, anyway, not around here, where everyone has to drive everywhere.

I agree. When people get into talking about how attractive someone is or their body image, when that's nothing to do with what their role is or why you have an issue with what they're doing, I think any worthwhile point has been lost. It's exactly how Trump behaves of course, and I know when you're angry you can sometimes speak in a way you'd normally avoid, but it shows a lot more character and strength to not get dragged into behaving the same way as the person you're criticising.
I watched The Truman Show with my daughter last night, it's a film I've seen quite a few times now (it was only her second viewing) but always really enjoy it. There aren't many films or books I'd want to revisit without a really long gap, but that's one!

We watched The Secret Life of Pets, and Hotel Transylvania 2, as we were looking for things an we and an 8 year old would enjoy. I enjoyed both When Bill Clinton was president, all the lesser news media were constantly going on about Hillary's pantsuits, her hair style with the hair band, her weight if it varied a pound upward, but never if she lost weight. Jackie Kennedy's wardrobe was covered endlessly, and her clothes often showed up on store racks a while later. I guess everyone can have an opinion about the unimportant things, which gets them in the discussion, even if they aren't intelligent or well informed enough to discuss the actual issues. Some of my friends do post great political cartoons, such as the one of a man smoothing the beach sand to prevent tsunami's, which I appreciate, as I've always appreciated political cartoons. I don't have to agree with them all, but I appreciate the genre. I just wish, instead of looking for every anti-trump site, they would check the credibility of the site first, and only post what's really credible. Fake news sites greatly outnumber credible news sites, and they cater their news to the reader, pro-trump for his supporters, anti for his detractors. They can make news out of anything

Cute! Still plenty of snow, I see!
It's great when films aimed at kids have plenty of the adults too - more fun for everyone. Glad you got to watch some entertaining movies with Peanut, 3piggles!
My daughter saw the new Grinch film this weekend (only because it was raining, and there was an influx of people at the cinema, so Bohemian Rhapsody sold out!) - she said it was good.

She might be a bit old for it, especially if she really wanted to see Bohemian Rhapsody. A mutual friend took her 7 year old son to see it, and he loved it. She gave it a thumbs up I think my granddaughter would love it, too. I like the family movies that are animated to keep kids entertained, and plotted and written well enough to not leave adults screaming. Yes, we still have snow, but not sure how much longer it will last. We're slated for rain and a bit of snow, with at least 10 days of temps well above freezing, so it might not last. We're looking for glow sticks, as there's a meme going around Facebook about putting two glow sticks in a mound of snow, and it creates a really cute look like a little snow ghost. Our granddaughter is going to be with us for Christmas week, and hopefully we'll have snow she can make into mounds, and create some glowing-eyed snow critters

I forgot to mention the great Christmas card my granddaughter gave us. Open the card, and the piggy sings 🎄 It's really adorable. She saw it at Walmart, and knew I'd love it. She couldn't wait for me to open it last Friday
