Greedy until we give them something they don't want or like. Then we get THE LOOK, lol Guinea pigs like the membranes inside bell peppers, which since we don't eat them, and generally toss them in the garbage, are great treats for the piggies

Congrats on becoming an official piggy slave lol. They're beautiful. And it looks like you're doing good. And thank you so much for adopting from a place and not shopping. I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, but also please make sure to get them to a vet that is certified in handling exotics just for a we'll check and to get yourself on the vets files. Trust me lol I know this on first hand basis. First visit fees are the most expensive when there is an emergency and it makes things more difficult. but If you're on a vets file and do regular check ins and check ups, the vet office will be more printed to taking care of you and your piggy..and have a back up vet Incase your primary is closed or can't see you piggy. When they get sick... you won't know until it's too late, they're good at hiding it, unless you're really knowing what to look for and the signs. I have two vets for my piggy brats.

Unfortunately, peanut has gotten a swollen eye. It's red and puffy and a bit cloudy. I think it is just from the hay in his eye.

Have you flushed it with warm water, or taken him to a vet? Hay pokes are common, but they can get infected. All digits crossed that it doesn't

I'd flush it with a saline solution (a pint of lukewarm water and a teaspoon of salt) and have a really good look to make sure there's nothing still in the eye, such as a hay seed.
It's normal for the eye to cloud over a bit after an injury, but any any swelling or redness that doesn't subside reasonably quickly, I'd get the vet to check it over.
Hope Peanut has recovered by now though.

I hope Peanut gets a speedy recovery!
On a side note, I always wondered why guinea pigs don't eat the most dangerous stalks first. I always see my guys chomping away with the hay uncomfortably close to their faces. However, I've never had an accident yet. Of interest is that Stilgar always seems to stomp down his hay and leave everything flat, so apparently this is a non-issue for him.

Update! the piggies have settled in nicely and have worked out if they wheek at my dad he will feed them. Lol. peanuts eye has been a bit cloudy and watery again but as it is not bothering him and he is still able to see out of it I’m just going keep an eye on it and hope it gets better. I think it’s because his hobby is sitting in hay! Here is a pic of the boys having some breakfast. Attachment Deleted
