I don't know if you remember a former member, Vicki T, but she has a piggy memorial garden, where she buries all her pigs. Beautiful flowers, bushes and trees. Mine will be a bit more rustic, as I don't have an English garden, but it's time to start a place for them all to go. I have too many containers of ashes, and just wanted a place we really owned, to put them to rest. This is it, so I'll do a small memorial garden for them. A little bit at a time! I have two baby girls on order through a Facebook friend who lives near me(30 minutes is near, for us). They're coming up from a rescue in New Jersey, and her parents are driving them up, so they'll be here in a couple of weeks. She runs a small animal rescue called The Pipsqueakery. I searched Petfinder for baby girls, and found four through her, they just aren't actually in New Hampshire, yet. I was really happily surprised that, when I mentioned that I had contacted Danni, and she could get me one baby, but recommended two, as we did with Noodles and Oodles for Morty, he agreed immediately. So Noodles will have to make the best of the quiet cage, because when the two itty bitties arrive, it will be anything but quiet. I think it's just what Noodles needs, and she'll make a great nanny pig

That's wonderful news about the two new girls! Noodles won't be lonely now! Can't wait to see new pics!

Oh that's great news! Noodles won't know what's hit her when they arrive! It should be a lot of fun having a little group, and less worry than with pair.
Have you got a picture of them to keep you going until you meet them?

It will be interesting. She's lonely and bored to the point of actually letting us pet her and take her out of Pigloo City. She was so determined to help me clean the cage, she was in my way most of the time 🤗

I'm sorry Noodles is fed up on her own, but glad she has you both around to help keep her spirits up until her new playmates arrive. It sounds like she'll be really glad for the company. Have you got somewhere worked out to do the intros?

Since Pigloo City is so big, and it's all hay, anyway, we plan to clean out all of the old scents, and just let them in to make their way. I found, once I had a cage big enough for everyone to have more than enough personal space, other than the establishment of dominance, there were no problems. Momo and Mia were the only ones, with Momo just not being able to socialize with the others. Also, Noodles is the dominant pig. It's her cage, and which ever of the babies is going to be dominant will have to wait her turn. Noodles is a big girl, a nice girl, so having them join her in her cage should help establish the hierarchy. Obviously, if that's not the case, we'd do a buddy bath, and totally reclean the cage, and set it up for a meet and greet, just one pile of hay in the middle.

I've still had a few dominance issues in bigger spaces, but it's probably more down to personality - the stroppy ones can own any sized space!
Noodles sounds pretty chilled out, and with the new ones being very young, it's much more likely they won't be interested in presenting any threat to Noodles, so she can just get used to sharing her space again. I certainly hope it all goes as smoothly as possible!
Any news on their journey yet?

That's why I wanted real babies, not just young pigs, and especially not pubescent pigs. Noodles is a laid back girl, but she needs some cooperation from the babies, and not constant temper tantrums. She's waiting for her parents to drive up from New Jersey, and bring the girls with them, so it's really up to her parents schedule. She'll let me know, as soon as there's anything to know I'm really looking forward to getting the new girls, and putting some life back in Pigloo City. I've had dominance problems in large cages, too, so I know it can happen. Usually it was with pigs to same age, or pigs with issues. I haven't had any problems with babies joining an adult. Fingers crossed I don't have any problems this time, either!

Fingers crossed! I'm in the middle of trying to pair up pigs, now, too (males). After we lost Harold in November, we adopted a very young baby and a 1-year old. Have been trying to figure out who to put with the three that I already had. Fun! (not).

Oh, I don't envy you that process! I've found boys hard to pair, especially if you have limited space, so pairings HAVE to work. I did have two girls who could not get along, and had to be separated. Luckily, I had space for an extra cage above the one I was using. I really wish you the best of luck

Thanks. The baby is going to pair well with one of our calmer males, I think, but the adult we adopted (1 year old) was highly insulted when I tried to pair him with one of our existing pigs--the little guy who was getting bullied. Initial intros went okay, but once I moved them to a cage together, his behavior towards us actually seemed to change: less friendly, didn't want to be held; nippier than usual. He is from a neglect situation and I suspect he prefers the peace and quiet of a cage by himself. Might have worked if I had space for a very large cage, but I don't. So, I'm back to 5 separate cages for now.

Sorry it didn't work out. The girl I had to separate was from a hoard of 150 pigs at a backyard breeder, and I think she just didn't learn piggy socialization skills. Sad, but it happens. If that's what he needs, it's best for him to have it. He might do better with a female, if he's neutered, but that's just a different set of issues, if he's just plain tired of issues. So glad the baby is fitting in

Ah that's a shame. We have a stroppy female (we acquired her because she'd been bullying her cagemate and biting the owners) and I had quite a gang at the time, so was sure I'd be able to find her a chum, but no cigar! She lives side by side with the others and is much calmer just interacting this way. She's still a bit of a nutter, but a happy one!

Thank you. It's always hard to lose a loved one, and she was such a sweet girl. I have two baby girls, now, keeping Noodles busy, but Oodles will always be in my heart. I think there's something about each pig that will always remind us of that pig. I treasure the memories.
