Vic took out all the tomato plants a couple of weeks ago, so our garden is technically done. We'll bring in the herbs for the winter, although the basil won't make it. Too cold in our house to grow basil, but the rosemary will flourish Not sure what the oregano will do. I think last year, it got so leggy, it wasn't good for anything but getting tangled in the rosemary. I'm going to investigate chives, and see if I can move any of what I have outside, inside for the winter. Only worth it if it will grow in our cool temp.

Got the new computer, but tonight was a bust. I disconnected the old one and reconnected about 1,000 cables (I exaggerate slightly, of course) to the new one and although it turned on, the monitor could not find a signal. So I hooked it up to another backup monitor and still got no result. So, I re-hooked up the old one and am using it now until I get things sorted out.

That must have been a bit of an anticlimax - hope you solve the mystery tomorrow, and that it's just a minor issue, not something that will delay you getting it up and running. After the disappointment of the software, I want you to have a great 'Woo!' moment with the new computer!

I'm writing this post from my new computer! Turns out there was one more HDMI port concealed by a tab- my buddy had me remove the tab and there it was! The original HDMI port that I plugged into was not for the monitor, so that was the source of the confusion.

Oh that's pretty much the same thing that happened to my son! Glad it's working anyway, hope you're having fun finding your way around on it, and that it's impressing you in ways your other one no longer was!

Oh, happy day! Great that it was such an easy fix Sort of a side to this, Hubby had the router down last night, so he could run electricity to it and some other things, and clean up the extension cords on the side of the TV area. No problem, everything came back up doing great, until he logged into his system this morning, and it's crawling. Mine, on the other hand, is hauling tuckus, lol No idea what he did, but I'm happy with it, even if he isn't

I need to buy rear speaker stands, and CD burning software. I just bought my license for Windows 10, and got my antivirus up and running, so things are cranking along. I may wait until the month is over to make these purchases; I've already spent enough money this month. Also, my wife has been buying furniture left and right- she wants another living room, even though we already have one (two if you count the large sitting area in our back yard, which no one uses.)
No one uses the living room now, but she wants another one in the basement. We just threw out some old dressers & other old trash, and she goes and buys more extremely heavy items that are hard to move around and take up space.

Glad you're getting your system running the way you want it. Living with a software engineer, there's never any waiting until next month for something, lol I did do some computer upgrades. Bought a new keyboard and trackball. My old trackball was eating batteries, and when it needed new ones, I could click my hand off, and eventually it would decide to connect. My keyboard was missing several key markings, the lettering on the keys. While I touch type, I still check the keys periodically, and had to stick on tape with the letters written on it. Neither item owed us anything. I've had the keyboard for at least 20 years, and the trackball probably isn't much newer. The new keyboard is ergonomic, and I'm really liking it The trackball no longer fits under the desk, when I close the keyboard shelf, so hubby is trying to convince me to give it to him. I'll just put it on the desk until I want to use it, again. I think he's going to get himself a keyboard and trackball. They weren't too expensive, and he spends a lot more time using both, than I do.

I had to look up what a trackball was (I had an idea what it was but couldn't imagine it) and as I was doing so I had a funny feeling I'd done the exact same thing when you mentioned it before! Glad the new gear is suiting you.
Glad your new set up is coming together, Baz, and if you and your wife have a vote, my x will be for your software over furniture for a room that won't get used much! (Hope the new furniture is different enough from the stuff you got rid of not to be *really* annoying when you're dragging it round after a long, hard day at work!)

It is cruel and unusual punishment to make you move furniture after a brutal day at work I vote for less furniture, and more software

We had been toying with the idea of going up to Door County (a peninsula in Wisconsin) in early October, but I've been reading some reports that we're expecting a trumpvirus surge in the northern states in the next few weeks, and also some reports that state that the vaccine's efficiency drops to about 70% after 6-7 months. Put these two together, and it seems like a bad idea to travel at this point. I know a few friends who have been doing some road trips, but that was months ago and they stayed outside as much as possible, masking only in hotel lobbies and in public restrooms.
I was hoping we'd resume traveling in 2021, but I'm okay with waiting until next year. Odd as this sounds, I can be impatient because tomorrow isn't promised to anyone, but sometimes telling me "eh, another year or two" doesn't make a difference, really. Maybe I'm just tired in general.

It sounds like you need a break more than ever, but I can totally understand you feeling more comfortable leaving travelling for a while longer. Don't let this job pinch your enthusiasm for life from you though, if you are just generally feeling less enthusiastic about things that would normally get you sitting up (even if you have to defer doing them) then please listen to that poor old body of yours!
