I'd rather do what you'll be doing, than have the loud fireworks. We're far enough from where the fireworks are set off to not hear them, but we can see them in three different places. It's fun to watch them, though I wouldn't give up my evening to sit outside and watch them. Fourth of July and Labor Day are out two big fireworks days, though the town has them every Friday night during the summer, and yes, lots of people gather in the park to watch them. This is Trump Central, after all, so why not spread the virus among friends! We stay home, and let the tRumpers give it to each other.
I don't know how many states did this, and what the starting date was, but Massachusetts and New Hampshire both had a cutoff date, Friday, I think, for any state workers who aren't vaccinated. They were given a good 6-month notice that they had to be vaccinated by this date, and if they didn't, they lost their jobs. Most hospitals/nursing homes also require all employees to be vaccinated, and have lost workers who refuse to get vaccinated. Everyone is short staffed. Hubby got my car inspected(annual MOD), which should have taken about 15 minutes. It took over two hours, and he wasn't even sure when they finally got the car up on the lift. Nothing was wrong, as it only has about 23K miles on it, so not even a burned out light bulb, and it took him well over 2 hours.
Granddaughter didn't have cheering practice for a week, due to the number of cheerleaders out sick with the virus, so it's everywhere, just not all at the same time. None of our area stores or schools have had to close.
A friend in South Devon UK area has her son home from school with the Delta Variant, and apparently 2/3 of the class are out with the virus. Parents of the sick kids are also testing positive, so hopefully everyone who can, has gotten the booster.
We got our booster and flu shots, yesterday, so we should be covered for about 6 months. The booster is definitely causing more pain than the original shots did, but only if something/someone touches it. I can move the muscles just fine. Hubby said he didn't get much sleep last night, because every time he tried to sleep on his side, one of the shots places hurt and woke him. Hopefully he'll do a lot better tonight.
