I wonder if the short hours imply they are in the field doing installations, or they don't have enough work to bother to stay open? Was there a voicemail option, or were they just closed?
We've thought about getting some awnings. One over the side door would help with the sun beating down so mercilessly I have to use a pot holder for a cast iron pan on the door lever to keep from burning myself when I try to open the door. One over the front windows would definitely cut down on the long sun hours on the front of the house, and probably help with the a/c bill. One over the front door would give us some cover while we unlock the door. I just don't know who to trust, and am always worried I'm going to become one of those stories about bad installation, refusal to honor contracts, etc., and have the wind rip the awnings off the house doing a lot of damage. I really wish I could get good reviews from people I know and trust, but they don't have awnings.
I hope you find someone. You probably won't do any better than the quoted price, but at least you know you've checked with everyone who might be interested, and that was the best price. I do wonder if the project manager has an IN with that awning company, and what he's telling you isn't quite right.
Also, don't forget the pandemic has driven prices up at least 50%, and in some cases over 100%, even if it's just from pandemic profiting and not supply chain issues. You won't get a price like you had when the awning was installed.
We have summer heat and humidity for this weekend, but today it's in the 60s F, and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the low 70sF. We'll see about that. The a/c came on for a few hours yesterday, and I let it just to dry out the air a bit. So far no a/c for today, and since hubby has been wearing his coat all day, I think he'd prefer we turn on the heat. Not happening when it's at least 4 degrees warmer than we pay to keep it in the winter. I should probably get out and buy a dehumidifier, even if just to make sure I can dry pit the bedroom enough to sleep decently. Have to see what's out there.
