Anyone want to play a game?! We had fun with this over Christmas (although this is the only Christmas-themed one). The idea is to guess the bird and then find the rhyme that works with what it's sitting on. A nice easy one to start with.

Not so easy for me, I'm afraid. I cannot identify the bird.

Okay, I'll see if 3piggles or anyone else has an idea (half of them I guessed by thinking of birds that rhymed with the object they're on - not that there's always only one answer for that!), but in the meantime, I bet you can get this one!

That one's too easy!

I'm getting a Goldilocks vibe here - it's too hard or too easy! Let's see if I can get the porridge to the right temperature with this one...

Sorry Bean, I just don't know my birds!

I do remember when you could have been bird spotting with your binoculars, you stumbled upon an altogether different kind of nature-watching!

I only got the parrot on the carrot. I couldn't think of a bird the sounded like sleigh, or that sounded like spool. They may not be in my area. A lot of birds aren't.

I tried to pick birds you have over there too, but they don't necessarily look the same!
The first one was 'jay on a sleigh' and the third was 'robin on a bobbin'. You get the point for parrot on a carrot of course!

Oh, duh!!! No, ours don't look like those birds.

When we played it, everyone was shouting out ideas for the bird and what they were sitting on (the winner being the first person to say the full rhyme, even if they'd only got it from listening to others - it made a a more level playing field as my parents know a ton more birds!). So even if you had no idea what the bird was, you could just rhyme random bird names and objects. Some were really tricky and had us scratching our heads, but it was fun, and we got them all between us!

Try some more, and see if we can get them.

I was trying to rhyme parrot with something, and couldn't. I've been working on it. Did you just look at it and get it? I was nowhere near getting it

I was trying to rhyme parrot with something, and couldn't. I've been working on it. Did you just look at it and get it? I was nowhere near getting it My first thought was, "what rhymes with teeter-totter"? and then the name "macaw" popped into my head... which lead to my mind using the seesaw classification instead.

Bravo Baz! 3piggles, I'd have not had a clue with quite a few of them if there wasn't someone helpfully providing a range of words to try to rhyme with! Another one - it will help if you recognise the famous person!

I got the Ritz part, but don't know what kind of bird that is. I'll try to look it up.
