Winter hidie fun. Usually there's one hidie midway in Pigloo City. I added the pigloos, and all three Guinea girls have been doing piggy trains from one end of Pigloo City to the other. Great exercise 🤗

Looks great, and it sounds like they're having fun! I bet the material draped over makes them feel lovely and cosy and secure and they gad about!

That was my goal. I plan to take the fleece off the lofts, cut slits in one end so it hangs over the opening under the loft, and let them have some hidie fun with that, too. I figure, with winter coming, the more warm and cozy places they have to hide and sleep the better. It seems to have created a lot more activity and conversation, which is always a good sign. Before, there were cozy spots under the lofts for a really deep sleep, but anyone in the middle hidie got disturbed by everyone passing from one end of the cage to the other. Now there are lots of places to sleep, ways around, ways through, and it seems to be keeping them well entertained Do you have any cloth hidies like those in your cages, Bean?

I do have some, but I don't use them loads as I find washing fleece/ fabric a faff with everything sticking to it. My lot seem to like cardboard and willow hideys best, and we sometimes get those paper snakes as packaging, and they always have a great romp in those, running around under them and enjoying the crackliness of the paper if they climb on them. The temperature is pretty constant in our house, so I don't change/add anything in winter.

Squeak 💝 That blue turtleloo has been a major hit with all the pigs since the early 2000s. That's quite a few pigs. Zippy used to walk around the cage with it on his back like a turtle shell. Huge Morty turned it into a tank on legs, lol 💝

I still have my two original pigloos (one is a barn, actually) and although my current herd doesn't chew on them, many of my previous guys did and the entrances have lots of teeth marks on them. It's nice when the shelters also serve as toys.

Noodles crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon. She had a stroke a little after noon, and lost the use of her hind legs. Pip and Squeak took turns staying with her all afternoon, until she crossed. They told us she had gone by returning to their usual activities. Noodle had a great life after a really bad start. She was one of 157 guinea pigs seized in a raid in southern Massachusetts. I got her and her sister, Oodles, from the Massachusetts Humane Society, and brought them home to a great cage full of hay, great veggies and pellets, and lots of love (they might have disagreed when it was nail clipping time). When Oodles crossed over, Pip and Squeak came to keep Noodles company, and they've had a grand time together. The youngsters always gave mama Noodles a helping hand if needed, and showed her the respect she deserved. I will miss her. We haven't discussed getting another pig, or not getting another pig. I think, once the holidays are all behind us, we can think about that. Pip and Squeak have each other, so no one is left all alone. Since it's dark here, she has been wrapped and put in a bag, and is in the freezer until tomorrow. Then hubby will see if there's any chance of digging a grave for her, or if she's going to have to wait until Spring. Popcorn free, little Noodles <3

3piggles, I am truly sorry to hear about this. My condolences for your loss. I imagine it was a great comfort to her to have her friends watching over her, and I hope she did not suffer.

Thanks, Baz I don't think she suffered at all, just went downhill really quickly. We have wrapped her up nicely, and put her in a box until we can bury her. We're supposed to get some rain, but I don't think we're going to get enough warm weather to thaw the ground, so she'll probably be in the freezer until Spring. That's okay with us <3 Vic has, once again, said more than two pigs is too much, although he doesn't usually deal with them. I'm just going to wait and see how Pip and Squeak do, and if they need a friend, I'll get them one. He won't be happy, but he says the same thing every time, then gives in and loves the newby's, sigh. For now, all is well in Pigloo City, and that's what's important.

I'm really sorry to hear you've lost Noodles, 3piggles. She's been a part of your family for so long. I hope you're doing okay. What a turnaround she had from her cruddy start in life, I'm really glad that she got to live her life happily with you, and that when she lost her companion, Pip and Squeak were able to step in and keep her company. They certainly helped keep her young, and it's so sweet to hear how they looked after her in her final hours too. Sleep tight Noodles.

Squeak was doing zoomies yesterday, so I think they've gotten past their grieving and moved on. A new herd dynamic is in place

It's always a relief to see the remaining pig/pigs get back to their usual happy selves, and I'm sure it's uplifting for you to see their happy dashing!

Meet Daisy. She was a Christmas gift from my daughter and family. She's very petable, doesn'tget bored and pee on me, and loves watching the same programs I like. Plush piggies definitely have a place 🤗
