I'll just copy what I wrote for my other post at CC.
Phoebe went into Labor at 61 days preg (about 10 days early) and was straining since yesterday afternoon. Towards 11 am I noticed she was heaving consistantly and put some of the pigs outside, only to come back and find her with a bub between her legs. She wasn't tending to it at all. So I picked him up and his sack was still on. I removed it and started rubbing him. I got some movement and a couple of breaths but he didn't make it.
The next one came and was very much smaller and I grabbed this one straight away because she didn't look like she was going to tend to it at all like the other one. So I rubbed this baby and got it breathing and kept going until the third one came out.
Like the first, he came out bottom end first and Phoebe was having real trouble getting him out. So I had to help ease him out with her contractions. I took his sack off and I thought this one would be ok with her as she was licking baby number 2. Unfortunately she wasn't doing a very good job so I picked him back up and started rubbing. As with baby number one, he had some initial breaths but also passed away.
Baby number four came head first and it looked like she tried to break the sac, but didn't quite make it. I didn't want to risk her not doing a good job like the last one, so I helped ease this baby out and started rubbing. This one took more breaths like baby number 2, but also passed away.
Phoebe has coped really well which is scary as everyone was shocked she even survived two breech babies, and the overall traumatic birth. All three bubs that died weighed in at 50g and were missing tummy hair. They were a bit premmie to begin with, let alone the stress of their mother's drawn out delivery. Poor Phoebe is exhausted. Funnily enough, this litter is an identical one to our first litter. Baby number 1 was identical to Gimps, Baby number 2 like Merlo, Baby number three like Pickle, and Baby number 4 like Hookesy (with white patch and everything).
So sad that they should come so early and have only one make it. I'm still not 100% sure with baby number two. It seems very much smaller than the rest, but is squeaking every now and then and moving around a bit. Phoebe ate the afterbirth and looks ok. Wish us luck for the next few days. Will keep you posted.
On the first day with mum..
Second day next to a fifty cent coin. This is our biggest coin, about 2.5cm across.
