Just a little update. Penny has now passed the half-way mark with her antibiotic injections and so far no sneezing or mucus. Just 6 weeks to go and hopefully Penny won't need those daily injections and I'll be relieved not to have to give them to her. Here is a recent pic of our little sweetheart I didn't like to but have quickly bucked up the courage to change the thread title. Thumper will always be a big part of the bunnies thread

Aw Clover, huge hugs to you. I know how hard it is to change the title of your thread. I remember how hard it was for me to do the same with my kitty thread. Thumper will always be a part of all of us. Oh my! Isn't Penny looking adorable there! I'm so glad that she has improved and is no longer producing mucus or sneezing. That's just wonderful!! I have a question Jackie, so feel free to tell me it's none of my business if you rather not answer it. I know that you wanted Thumper and Penny to become friends but since they both were females it just did not work out. Are you considering getting a male friend now for Penny and starting over or are you thinking it may not be in the future? I'm just curious, that's all. I hope it is not to painful of a question to ask.

Bunny Penny is looking great. I'm glad the antibiotics are working. I know what it's like to do long-term care, and it can seem to run on forever. She looks so happy, so she can't be minding it too much.
I know how you feel about changing the title on your thread. Changing the tread name isn't erasing her, it's just removing a constant reminder of the loss.

Aww thank you Val and Laurie for your understanding. I know I might sound silly to some that don't understand the hurt you feel when you loose a much loved pet but when I removed Thumpers page on my site as I always do a memorial page for my pets in my Rainbow Bridge section, I said out-loud 'sorry Thumper' and sorry Squeekie' too Its so hard changing pages that have been there for years. I felt abit better about it, seeing Thumpers linked picture between Fiver and Hammy and Squeekie between Clover and Peachy. Like they are reunited again on my site. jackiesguineapiggies.com/angelsoverrainbowbridge.html Thumper and Squeekie are like my last two pets that were with me when I originally started my site and feel all my angel pets will always be a big part of it. Val, aww no of course I don't mind you asking. I think Kathy needs more time to get over the rawness of loosing dear Thumper. Penny is very happy but I'm sure once she starts feeling less raw, she will get a boy bunny for Penny. My friend Ros gave some good rescue contacts for future reference so at least hopefully things will go much better.

Just knowing that some sweet little bunny will be coming one day to his forever home will help ease the sorrow of loosing Thumps. I'm also so glad that you have your friend Ros! That last adoption go with Penny was a rough one and I'm quite certain that won't happen again. At least you've learned a lot more of what to watch out for.

At least you've learned a lot more of what to watch out for. I do Val, incompetent people that run rescues. To be honest, I won't trust anyone to sex a rabbit in future, only my vet, but I'm still sure that most good rescues wouldn't get the gender wronge. I haven't heard of it happening before because it should be second nature to sex a rabbit when rescues have so many rabbits in their care. To not even say sorry for the mistake Tameside Rabbit and Guinea Pig Rescue made.... anyway best not get me started lol At the moment I'm looking for an alternative to using hay as bedding in Penny's cage. She is so good at using the litter tray that she doesn't need all the bedding. She can have vetbed to sleep on but I need to find a covering that she can't slip on. Carpet mats might be ok unless she decides they taste nice. Does anybody have any ideas' ? My daughter has bought grass mats but I need to know if rabbits might slip on them?

Not sure what else to suggest Jackie. As you know I use that equine bedding and my sister-in-law, like you, uses vet bed but she does say she has to replace it quite often as her bunnys chew it so much. She got a lovely black and grey stripe vet bed a few weeks ago (and a snow white bunny).
Val, I asked as well because like you I thought what a good home would be waiting eventually for a lucky bunny.
Jackie it must have been hard to change this title and the entries at your site. Its hard losing any pet but even more so when they have been with you so long.

Aww thanks Lesa and for letting me know what your sister-in-law uses for her bunnys.
When Penny is out and about, she licks the carpet rather than chews it so maybe that might be an idea. At least she won't slip on a flat carpet piece. If it works out, Kathy would only have the litter tray to change and Penny will still be comfortable either lying on vetbed or the carpet.
I'll show you the cage when we have changed the flooring.

Maybe something like outdoor carpeting that has some grip to the surface, won't get damaged and cleans easily. I don't mean sisal, just the kind recommended for porches and patios.

Thank you for the suggestion Laurie. I think anything we use will have to be glued down as she loves throwing the hall mat about lol
