There you go Val, all four there for everyone to see! I should get myslef a signature and avatar like everyone else has one of these days - all seems too much like hard work, I'm soooo lazy! One day soon.... Newpig - the Thrive treats in the WHITE tubes are great - quite expensive, so only for a rare treat, but they're really good - Silvie and Taz both love them. The same brand but in BLACK tubes are cheaper and rubbish - neither Silvie nor Taz would eat them!

Tried the introductions again this morning and it it went better - I had them together on the floor for at least half an hour before I decided enough was enough. I guess I'm going to have to just keep doing this, letting be together for longer and longer each time until I feel they're ready to be together in the cage. I even felt confident enough this time to put down the newspaper and towel and pick up the camerea! I will download photos later as it is actually a lovely day here and I want to spend some time in the garden whilst I can. I just had to tell you all the news that the introductions are improving! I was really pleased with them to day - there were still a lot of nips, rumbling and chattering and a few jumps at each other but not quite so violent as before (less fur flying!) I was also amazed, again, as little Winnie - I heard her rumbling for the first time today but for such a tiny pig (800g or so), she has SUCH a deep set rumble - her whole body shakes and her ears tremble! Rory's rumble, although constant, is so tame in comparison! Off out to play in the sun in the garden now - will post photos later!

Ooh I'm so glad that things are improving with the intros! Looks like you have plenty of space there for them. I see you are going outside to play in your garden, do you have a lawn area that you could take the piggies out to graze? I found my piggy introductions went really well outdoors.
Love the pigtures btw!

Slowly but surely, it's certainly going to take a good few weeks more. But I remain optimististic - as long as things keep improving, even just a bit at a time, then I'll be happy. I do have a nice big living room floor for them to play on. I think the arrangement I tried today with the hayracks has worked the best, so I'll do that again. I have tried it with pigloos and with nothing, but if they have things to hide in, then that's what they do - just hide! With the hayracks they can hide behind them but can still be seen and still run around easily - and have lost of nice fresh hay to munch! I tried just sprinkling parsley and coriander around last week but they just ate it all and then turned their attentions to getting grumpy with each other! I do have a lawn outside - but it is largely moss at the moment (i'm not much of a gardener!) and it is also on a steep slope - not sure how they'll manage with that, but I will try. Still a bit chilly here for indoor pigs as well, even when the sun's out!

Keep up the good work, I know you will get there soon. Shall I ask my piggies for any tips?

Getting piggies used to you, their environment, or new things takes time. You're very patient, and I think it will all work out in the end. The cage is great, and I love the hay racks. Are those meant to be hay racks, or are they dish drying racks. I've never seen them in pet stores, but I used to have one like it as a dish drying rack.

Thanks all for the encouragement - I will keep trying as I so much want them all to be able to have the run of the whole big cage. We had a girlie pampering session yesterday (and Rory joined in too - like he had a choice!). Everyone had some lap time and each of the pigs got some GG lavendar and myrhh lotion on their ears and some perfect paws stuff on their feets! Not sure they were all that impressed but I enjoyed it! I can't get over how lovely Rory's fur is, it's so soft and flowing, even though its not quite long hair. And all their toenails seriously need a trim. My sister is coming to stay with me next week and she is also a pig fan (although doesn't have any at the moment) so I will enlist her help. It's most definitely a more than one person job with my wriggly lot! If that fails, then its off to the vets for them all. I know its expensive but I don't mid cos it gets them used to the experience and it gets them a proper check up!

Sounds like you had a nice cozy time with the piggies. I trim my piggies myself. I always wish I had someone to hold them for me while I trim. It sure would make it much easier. So far I have never cut the quick, but if I ever do, I know I will cry more than the piggy! lol Like Laurie, I'm curious too...are your hay racks really dish racks? I think this is the dish rack type that Laurie is talking about.... www.planetnatural.com/site/image.html?sku=wood-dish-rack

Tee hee! No, they're not dish drainers, they are really hay racks! I had never thought of it before but can definitely see the resemblance now you point it out! I really love them because the pigs like to jump up into them and sleep in them. I'm waiting for the photo opportunity which I'm sure will arise one day, when all four pigs are in hay racks at once! I have one of the two 'Big Pigs' (Woolly and Bingo) in them together You wouldn't fit much washing up in them anyway, mebbes the odd cup and saucer but not much else!

I like those racks as well but my lot are serious chewers and the wooden ones wouldn't last long with them.
Sounds like you had a fun session with them. We also need a Spring time bath here and then they'll all get a treatment with the coconeem melt and the lavender and myrrh lotion. Followed by a nail trim for all 8 piggys and the 2 bunnys.

Oh I see the racks better now. Looks like a nice comfy spot for a piggy to rest. ;D I don't think my pigges are chewers? At least so far none of them have even chewed on their pigloos. When I first got W&W, their pigloo had some chew damage but I've never seen them chew on it since they have been here. The wood racks might work for my lot?

Oh I may have to get me some of those hay racks! Mine is just a standard one so they can't jump in it, etc.. thats not as much for as getting all wrapped up in hay Love your set up for your piggies, and glad the intro's went ok

Newpig - mine are munchers too, there are chunks out of the legs of the racks already! But they seem to be withstanding too much attack so far and are holding up. The wood is fairly hard so I think it will take some time to munch through. It's good for them to have things to munch on anyway! They were all out again together today - for a whole hour and a half! Could have been longer if I didn't have other stuff to do. There are still a fair few confrontations and I still have to watch them closely, but they seem to be getting slightly less violent with each week. I think it will be a few weeks yet at least before I'm confident to remove the divider in the cage - don't think they're up for happily co-habiting just yet! So far so good...

Sounds like you are making great progress. It won't be long now before you can remove the divider.

They look happy to me! I love the hay rack, and can see how it's different from the dish drainer I was thinking it was. Where did you get the hay rack(s)? I really like that they pee can drain out of the hay and there's a bit of air circulating around the hay.
