We in the midwest USA like to think we don't HAVE accents like say, the southern ones or the Boston type or the "cowboy twang" or New Orleans Cajun or the New York ones! But wherever we go people seem to know we're from Ohio so I guess we do. Actually here in Cincinnati we have some rather unusual colloquialisms that give us away every time: when we don't understand something someone says we say "Please?" instead of huh or what? ( or something more polite! ). We also say "worsh" for wash and "ruff" for roof, etc.- veeery Cincinnati.

I dont have a midwestern southern whatever the heck we are located! midcentral accent. and i hate how poeple think we have that "typical hick accent" because nothing gets on my nerves more than someone who talks like a hick

Vegan, a lot of my husband's family was from OK when it was still Indian territory. One funny story was when the KKK tried to ride into the town ( I forget the name but I'll remember it sometime and tell you! ) the Indians, who were friends with his family ( who are Jews ) kinda lined up like ya see in Westerns and stopped them from coming into town. The chief also named his son after a relative: some horrible Jewish name plus the last name Phillagetabbe (spelling?)- poor kid! Where WOULD you like to live? We've lived in Colorado twice and want to move back after our 15 year old son Isaac graduates fro high school. We love mountains!

We border on Kentucky ( where I was actually born!) and some of my sisters live there and boy, do THEY have that "hick"accent! I think it's kinda cute and when I'm down there I even start talking like that too! Clover says she thinks a southern accent is cute too!

Originally all the native americans were scattered throughout the US, like the East Coast, or the Southwestern, but when white man came, he pushed them out of their lands and shoved them onto Oklahoma because nobody else wanted it, so I dont know why we should be so proud of that. And people make such a big deal about our background being native american when everyones was, just all the native amercans got pushed on our land. I mean, oklahoma might not be *that* bad, but in my opinion, i dont see why anyone would want to MOVE here

I never knew any of that Vegan! Is Oklahoma a big state?
I'm from Cheshire, England. I was actually born in Cyprus though as my dad was in the RAF. Sadly I can't remember it though as I was only 18 months when we moved back to England. I'd love to visit my birthplace one day.

No doubt that Native Americans got THE rawest deal EVER and we should owe them a LOT of restitution. I love that they have all these casinos and are hopefully separting the white man from his money at a fast rate! It's also ironic that what we thought was crummy land we were shoving then onto turns out to be beautiful and probably chock full of oil and minerals! Serves us right! The place my husband's family lived in was Antlers.
